TV show description:
A spin-off of Star Trek: The Next Generation, this science fiction series revolves around the inhabitants of the remote Deep Space Nine space station.
Under the joint control of the Federation and Bajor (a planet recently liberated from a long and brutal Cardassian occupation), the station is located near a valuable wormhole that allows access to the distant and unexplored Gamma Quadrant.
Starfleet officer Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks) is the widowed father of teenage son Jake (Cirroc Lofton) and is in charge of DS9. His second-in-command is hard-nosed Kira Nerys (Nana Visitor), a former Bajoran guerrilla fighter.
Other inhabitants include the shape-shifting chief of security, Odo (Rene Auberjonois); chief medical officer Julian Bashir (Alexander Siddig); symbiont science officer Jadzia Dax (Terry Farrell); Ferengi bar owner Quark (Armin Shimerman); chief of operations Miles O’Brien (Colm Meaney) and his wife Keiko (Rosalind Chao) and two children.
Later in the series, Klingon strategic operations officer Worf (Michael Dorn) comes aboard and Ezri Dax (Nicole de Boer) replaces Jadzia.
