At the recent TCA summer press tour, USA execs teased that the future looked very sunny for their freshman drama, Suits. Well, they’ve now sealed the deal and officially renewed the series for season two. Suits has been a big success for the cable channel and, as a result, they’ve ordered 16 episodes — four more than season one.
The season one finale of Suits is set to air on September 8th. No word yet on when season two will debut.
USA NETWORK ORDERS SEASON TWO OF HIT ORIGINAL SERIES “SUITS”
Most Watched Show in its Timeslot, #1 in All Key Demos SUITS Stars Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, Gina Torres, Rick Hoffman, Meghan Markle and Sarah Rafferty
NEW YORK – August 11, 2011 – Coming off its biggest summer ever dominating the television landscape with a record number of scripted originals and a firm hold on the #1 position in cable, USA Network today announced the season two pick up of the new hit original series SUITS with an order of 16 one-hour episodes. The series, which shoots in Toronto, stars Gabriel Macht (“Love and Other Drugs”), Patrick J. Adams (“Lost”), Rick Hoffman (“Samantha Who”), Gina Torres (“Firefly”), Sarah Rafferty (“Brothers & Sisters”) and Meghan Markle (“CSI Miami”). The announcement was made today by Chris McCumber and Jeff Wachtel, co-presidents, USA Network.
SUITS launched on Thursday, June 23 at 10/9c and will conclude its 12 episode freshman run with the season finale on Thursday, September 8 at 10/9c. The series has made USA the most watched network Thursdays in the 10pm hour in all of television – broadcast or cable – in delivering P18-49, P25-54, and P18-34, beating every cable competitor in total viewers and households, as well. SUITS is the network’s third best freshman season of an original series in P25-54 (2.93 million), P18-49 (2.80 million), P18-34 (1.24 million) and total viewers (6.34 million).
“SUITS exceeded our expectations on every level with its sharp writing, engaging ensemble cast and incredible production values,” said Wachtel and McCumber. “Quickly embraced by our viewers, critics and the industry as a series that pushes the envelope of the USA brand, we needed no further evidence to greenlight a second season.”
SUITS delves into the fast-paced, high-stakes world of a top Manhattan corporate law firm where hotshot associate Harvey Specter (Macht) makes a risky move by hiring Mike Ross (Adams), a brilliant but unmotivated college dropout, as his new associate. As he becomes enmeshed in this unfamiliar world, Mike relies heavily on the firm’s best paralegal Rachel (Markle) and Harvey’s no-nonsense assistant Donna (Rafferty) to help him serve justice. With a photographic memory and the street smarts of a hustler, Mike proves to be a legal prodigy despite the absence of bonafide legal credentials. Proving to be an irrepressible duo and invaluable to the practice, Mike and Harvey must keep their secret from everyone including managing partner Jessica (Torres) and Harvey’s arch nemesis Louis (Hoffman), who seems intent on making Mike’s life as difficult as possible.
From Universal Cable Productions, creator Aaron Korsh wrote the pilot and serves as co-executive producer of SUITS. The series is executive produced by Doug Liman (COVERT AFFAIRS, the “Bourne” trilogy, “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”) and David Bartis (COVERT AFFAIRS, “The O.C.,”) of Hypnotic with Gene Klein (COVERT AFFAIRS) serving as producer. Kevin Bray (“Walking Tall”) is supervising producer and directed the pilot. SUITS is shot on location in Toronto, ON.

What do you think? Are you glad that there will be even more episodes next season? Some people have complained about occasional cursing in the episodes. Does it bother you?

OMG!! This show is like a big slice of pastry to a sugar-a-holic…really enjoy this show immensely! Bring it back real sooooooooooon
Great show, well written and great acting. Glad the show is renewing.
The show is awesome. It is great to see that USA finally realized what they had and picked up the show for another season. As far as the cursing goes, I will say this, we do not live in the “Leave it to Beaver” era any longer. Shows are much more edgy and realistic. Debra, yes christians may not do much cussing, and using the GD may offend some, or all of you, but that is real life, so what is the problem? I guess if it gets to the point that it bothers you that much, you will stop… Read more »
I actually liked the show a lot but I can’t stand using the Lord’s name in vain (GD). I thought USA was promoting a pledge about not discriminating against others but this increasing use of GD offends Christians. If it continues, I won’t keep watching. And don’t tell me that the cursing goes with the characters. That’s ridiculous. You can make your point without offending Christians.
I’m a Christian and it doesn’t bother me. Guess I’m not overly religious, heh.
As a side note, I’ve always been mystified as to why programs and such bleep out the “God” rather than the “damn” in that phrase. I mean, you’d think “damn” would be a more offensive word than God. Out of the two, “damn” is the only actual cuss word. Meh.
Love, love, love this series. It’s a good one. Much better than most all other television series. I look forward to watching it each week and I make sure to DVR it.
Thanks for renewing. Can’t wait for a new season to being.
Love this show….It needs to be back very, very soon!!! Every one in the house watches together, great family night!!!!!
Love Suits ….Glad it’s being renewed ,, sad it’s over for the season ….. Season went to fast..
I would have been so disappointed if this show was canceled. I loved the first season and wouldn’t change a thing going forward to Season Two. The actors and writing are awesome, keep up the great work USA!
The show is terrific. The language is just fine; so appropriate for those characters and that corporate world. Please, USA, don’t cave to the whiners and change it one bit.
Love every single actor, but Jessica RULES and Donna ROCKS!
the cursing bother me? heck no. what is really truly weird & offensive, though, is that they bleep those words when they show repeats in daytime!
I know all shows have a bad guy but Louis on SUITS has stopped me from watching the show. He totally ruins the mood of the show. I was just turning to another channel when he had a scene but it has gotten so annoying that if I see that he will have several scenes I just change the channels.
Totally LOVE this well-written show! Happy to hear the news of more episodes next season. Can’t wait for the season 2 to start.
LOVE the show! So glad that it’s getting a 2nd season! Come join in the all important discussion about Harvey’s hair on FB! Seriously, this is a real thing among Suits fans. Come let your opinion be made known! So please, if you love Suits, if you love Harvey, if you love his hair (no matter how its styled), then come and “Like” the page and tell other “Suitors”
about it! Cheers! =)
Wow … Love, love, love … Love all the dynamics between Harvey and Mike, want to hire a Donna, want to BE Jessica, want to have dinner w/ Rachel and catch up on office Gossip, and Harvey … well … that I’ll keep to myself. Bravo USA Bravo. First all around GREAT show. Good music, creative filming, phenomenal characters who’s subtle reactions to each other give the show amazing color.
From A super hooked fan.
I am truely amazed. I mean they actually figured one out correctly. Am I still living in the same demention I woke up in this am??? I mean usually they move the good shows all over the schedule so nobody can find them to watch them, then they cancel them because nobody is watching. This show rocks! And where other shows similar to it have apparent short shelf-lives, I think this one has built itself up enough to go on for a good long time. Maybe we are looking at the next Law & Order even????
