TV show description:
Set in the 1990s, this single-camera comedy is based on the autobiographical book I Suck at Girls by Justin Halpern (Sh*t My Dad Says).
Jack Dunlevy (Christopher Meloni) is an ex-military oncologist who’s also a no-bull kind of guy. He sees little, if any, need to sugar-coat the truth. Jack’s been a typical working dad who left most of the parenting to his stay-at-home wife. But now, his wife Joanne (Rachael Harris) is starting law school and this leaves Jack as a full-time parent for the very first time.
Their teenage son Frankie (Connor Buckley) is just starting his freshman year in high school. He’s quick-witted but unsure of himself and just wants to fly under the radar. But over the summer, he grew 10 inches, threw a no-hitter against a rival team, and started to attract girls. These events started getting him noticed which put him in some awkward situations that he wasn’t ready for.
No matter how embarrassing Frankie’s situations are, Jack is there to pick up the pieces and lead his son to manhood — with the least gentle hand possible. Although Jack may be unorthodox and unfiltered, his intentions are always good however and he’s Frankie’s only resource right now.
Even more confusing to Jack is his daughter, Rachel (Claudia Lee), a gorgeous and super-smart 17-year-old high school junior. Up until now, she’s done everything right. But no longer under the watchful eye of her mother, she has become a handful.
In addition to disciplining his own children, Jack looks out for Frankie’s best friends. George (Kevin Hernandez) is an overly confident Mexican-American with a big vocabulary while Mikey (Tyler Foden) is a tough kid from a broken home.
Only time will tell if Jack’s blunt and unpredictable parenting style will keep his kids out of trouble — or if Joanne will have to put down the law books and step in to keep the family order.

What do you think? Do you like the Surviving Jack TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
This show is awesome! Fox needs to bring it back!!!
PLEASE BRING THIS SHOW BACK!!! It is truly a good show!!!! Stop canceling great shows!!
Amazing, hilarious, wonderful. We LOVE THIS SHOW!THE BEST SHOW IN A LONG WHILE!!!!!
This show is real and had much more substance, humor and character than the majority of shows being released today. The only thing bad about it was the time slot FOX placed it in. It is unbelieveable that it was cancelled. I hope the network realizes its error and soon.
This is a good show that has humor not based on smut. It should not be canceled
Not only did they not give one of the funniest t.v. shows a chance for great word of mouth P.R, after seeing 1 episode I started bringing it up in daily converstion after watching another one on my DVR I started waiting for it every week. I stopped caring about being able to fast fwd through ads ( in todays NOW NOW NOW 30 sec is too slow toxicly inpatient world, watching sec for sec of ads rarely happens) I just got 15 other friends, family members and PTSA mothers hooked on Surviving Jack with in the last 2 shows.… Read more »
I really like the show. Very funny. It just started how can they already be cutting it.
I can’t believe they canceled this! I guess if it’s a good clean show they don’t want to keep it on TV. This is the ONLY TV Show I can get my husband to watch with me!!!
Surviving Jack is a good and funny show regarding parenting and teenagers. I know what that is like and to put humor in a show while parenting teenagers is genius. In real life it’s not easy, but this show gave comfort and laughs. I’m getting tired of reality shows and sexual innuenndos shows. It is the best show out. 30 mins. and funny , no crime, blood or guts. Fox, Channel 4 needs to continue the show “Surviving Jack”. Love it and the characters. You got it right! Don’t mess with it, just give it a chance. PLEASE! Melody
I meant Christopher Maloni.
I am so disappointed that this show is cancelled. Why? We finally get a good show with a good cast and someone cancels it. I’m sure they will make room for another boring, dumb reality show. They should have been thrilled to have someone like Michael Maloni. Now I hear Rake with Greg Kinear is going too. I think I will just give up on tv altogether.
This series is hilarious it should 100% be renewed for a second season. I’m pissed.
Beat show on TV
Surviving Jack is a show I look forward to each week. I am so disappointed that something wholesome, something I can relate to as a parent and something that gives me a laugh each week. Why cancel it so soon. You haven’t given it a chance. Please reconsider, because Surviving Jack is a winner and probably not enough people have heard about it yet. Don’t give up on something great.
I really like this show fox never gives a show a chance to shine. Enless its about people dancing or singing.I read in another site some on say(I can’t believe it that it’s in jeopardy already. This show makes me laugh out loud and the entire cast is strong. I love the Dad character. I believe it’s cultural. I saw so many comments on the pilot that had me puzzles. People thought he was mean, or alcoholic, or not sympathetic. This was before the softness set in where every kid is treated like a winner whether they are one or… Read more »
I’m very disappointed that they canceled this show without giving it a chance. It was my favorite show this year. Fox should have given people a chance to find it.
