What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the FX cable channel, Taboo follows adventurer James Keziah Delaney (Tom Hardy). In 1814, he returns to London after spending 10 years in Africa. Upon his arrival, he finds that his father has died. Now, James is line to inherit what is left of the family shipping empire. This fact unnerves his half‐sister Zilpha (Oona Chaplin), her husband Thorne Geary (Jefferson Hall), and the chair of the mighty East India Company, Sir Stuart Strange (Jonathan Pryce). Taboo also stars Stephen Graham, Michael Kelly, Jessie Buckley, David Hayman, Tom Hollander, Jason Watkins, Franka Potente, Ed Hogg, Leo Bill, Christopher Fairbank, Richard Dixon, Mark Gatiss, Nicholas Woodeson, Lucian Msamati, and introduces Robert Parker.
Season One Ratings
The first season of Taboo averaged a 0.43 in the 18-49 demographic and a total audience of about 1.24 million. Find out how Taboo stacks up against the other FX TV shows.
On March 8, 2017, Taboo was renewed for a second season on FX and BBC One. A premiere date has yet to be announced. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Despite being described as a mini-series, Taboo co-creator Steven Knight has said he has plans for three seasons. Although the Taboo ratings are decent for an FX series, they’re a bit weak for a first season show. While Taboo doesn’t approach the numbers of top performers American Crime Story and American Horror Story, after them, it is one of the stronger shows on FX. Since Taboo is a co-production with BBC One (which defrays the cost), it is not a big surprise that Taboo has been renewed for a second season.

What do you think? Are you happy FX renewed Taboo for a second season? How would you feel if they had cancelled this TV show, instead?
Love the show. Unique.
I love love love the show and I would be so sad if the cancelled it. I didn’t know the season has ended and I’ve been looking for it for two weeks now. So happy it renewed
This is complete Horse Shite!!! Why would you make any fan wait longer than a year to start the second “season”? Love the show, love the writing, love the characters and the actors, but this is a complete failure by the producers to drag this out. Hopefully, I am lucky enough to catch the first episode of season 2 when it finally does get released in 2022. Good luck holding onto the fans that have to wait.
Yeah!!! Taboo will return. No need to say more

Am thrilled Taboo has been renewed. My sister and I watch it every week. Love the cast!
I really liked the show.I thought it had great depth into the lives of those in the early 1800’s.It was a very well done show with superb acting maybe to dark for most shallow minded TV viewers butI applaud you for stepping out and having it.I only hope there is a second season.Vick Nuuttila from Liberty Hill Texas
