Fans of Taxi are in for a treat. The cast of the classic comedy series is headed to The View to celebrate the sitcom’s 45th anniversary.
Tony Danza, Marilu Henner, Carol Kane, Danny DeVito, Christopher Lloyd, and Judd Hirsch reunited to film the special segment, which will air on the syndicated weekday series on Monday.
According to People, Hirsch coordinated the cast reunion and called co-host Whoopi Goldberg to pitch it. “He called, he said listen, we are all gonna be in town. It’s the 45th anniversary, and we’re all in town because we’re seeing Danny’s show on Broadway. Could you get us on The View? We should get on The View,” Goldberg said.
“We do really fun stuff on this show. It seems sometimes, I think to us, because we talk about a lot of things going on in the world,” Goldberg added. “But every so often we do something fabulous and out there. And this was fabulous and out there.”
The sitcom follows the drivers, dispatcher, and mechanic for the fictional Sunshine Cab Company in Manhattan. Nominated for 31 Emmy Awards, the series aired for 114 episodes during its five-season run on ABC and NBC.
In this clip from the reunion, Danza describes Henner as his first “Hollywood girlfriend” and that having a girlfriend who remembers everything isn’t ideal. Henner has Highly Superior Autobiographical Memory, or HSAM, which is the rare ability for a person to remember precisely what they did on any given date.
What do you think? Were you a fan of this sitcom when it aired? Are you excited to see this cast back together?
Absolutely! Can’t wait!!
On ANY other program I would love to have watched the Taxi reunion/anniversary. BUT NOT ON the view!
