Though many critics loved the FX series, Terriers just couldn’t attract enough viewers to stay alive. FX has announced the TV show has been officially cancelled.
Terriers follows a pair of unorthodox and unlicensed private detectives. They’ll take just about any job, no matter how small or how strange. The show stars Donal Logue, Michael Raymond-James, Kimberly Quinn, Laura Allen, Rockmond Dunbar, and Jamie Denbo.
The series debuted to a 0.5 rating among the 18-49 demographic and 970,000 total viewers. When compared to other FX shows, that was a poor showing right from the start. The numbers went lower for subsequent episodes and the recent season finale attracted a 0.3 demo rating and 784,000 viewers.
FX President John Landgraf is expected to discuss the decision later today but ultimately the reason for the cancellation seems quite clear.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Terriers won’t be returning for a second season? Why didn’t it catch on? Was it simply a confusing title or something more?

I thought this was a fantastic show– I am most disappointed it will not be back
I was so upset about this show. We loved it. but had to see it on demand. People who like it will be loyal is you try to find a new time spot… Please rethink this. Try moving it around and give it a lot of attention….This is a great show with a great story line. Bring in a bigger star to start off the new season Please try thanks. But we love the actors that are in the show…. please keep them.
I’m so sorry Terriers is not going to be back on. I loved it. Sometimes
I think some shows are just not hyped enough and many people
probably don’t even know when a new show starts. I agree with Meka…
I’m so sick of the everyday dumb shows that are on the major networks. I’d
rather watch something a little off the wall like ‘Terriers’.
Best show on TV. Too bad. Please reconsider
Best show on TV. Too bad.
Please do a season two! Best show I have watched in a long time. People magazine had it as a top ten show of 2010 in their best of 2010 issue recently. Word is spreading about what a great show you have here!! The audience will grow as we all help spread the word!
What a disappointment! The network just did NOT promote this show properly at all. It was a funny, interesting and quirky whodonit sort of show. Oh, how I wish someone else would pick it up, but when you’re already on FX, …..
I agree, the show was not promoted properly. I started watch halfway through the season and immediately was hooked. I would love to know exactly how ratings are calculated and who from the viewing public is involved. These days it is darn near impossible to find good programming on TV. I have learned to not get to attached to a series because nothing goos ever lasts.
Seriously!?! They’re spinning off “The Jersey Shore” and “16 and Pregnant” but Terriers gets cancelled! Must have been the canny marketing plan FX devised to promote this show..oh that’s right they didn’t promote it! They didn’t promote it, didn’t advertise it, didn’t get it mentioned in TV Guide or Entertainment Weekly. Basicaly you had to stumble across it on your way to Keeping up with the Kardashians. Well done FX, well done!
Terrific show…..kept me guessing…gonna miss it.
We enjoyed the characters of Terriers… what we didn’t understand was the name “terriers… guess i will never know… darn it.. want more of this show!!!!
The cancellation of Terriers is so unfortunate. Give this series another shot. It’s well-written and well-acted. The characters are flawed but we love them anyway. I looked forward this show more than any other this season.
Really, really good show. Very disappointing.
We want Terriers We want Terriers We want terriers
We need Terriers
so disappointed- really, really well-crafted show
