There’s certainly no chance of The Big Bang Theory being cancelled any time soon. The very popular sitcom’s already been renewed through season 10. Will season eight be the series’ biggest or worst season yet? Stay tuned.
The Big Bang Theory revolves around a group of geeky scientists, their friends and significant others. The castmembers are Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Melissa Rauch, and Mayim Bialik.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
Final season averages: 4.32 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 16.14 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
For comparisons: The seventh season of The Big Bang Theory averaged a 5.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 17.65 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like The Big Bang Theory TV series? Do you think it should end with season 10?
I bet ratings went down because of Kaley’s hair for those of you who left because of her hair that’s stupid but if you want to come back she grew it back
I used to like this show, and then the dialogue just got snarky and mean spirited, the situations were badly and stupidly contrived, and the incessant canned laughter is simply annoying, and often inappropriate, very little is funny any more. Indeed, I’m about to stop watching this awful show unless it gets to be at least a little funny, and not just because one of the characters did something stupid or bad! And maybe Lorre or whoever writes this tripe that sarcasm has a place in humor, but not all the time, and if Lorre wants to parade his dysfunctional… Read more »
We enjoyed the Big Bang but then the canned laughter was added which brought the humor in the show to a lower level. The show stood on its own and didn’t require added laughter. People recognize a funny moment and respond without the need to be prompted to respond. I quess the writers ran out of funny and just added a laugh tract. We have lost interest in this sitcom
If Kaley ‘s , hair is the problem with the ratings that’s stupid, you don’t lose rating because someone cut their hair it’s obviously the show has just ran out of things to write about and should end.
Don’ti dismiss so quickly the reason… the short hair might have forced the hand of the writers to transform her character, that completely ruined the chemistry of the entire premise: 4 geeky guys and one hot girl… Besides, her comments about that were unfortunate to say the least… she sounded like “if you dont like it f… you”… well “sweetie” (did you see what i did there :-), your career only exists because all of us, if she doesn’t understand that soon enough, she won’t have a very long career…
YOU ARE SOOO CORRECT! SHE DAMN WELL BETTER GROW HER HAIR BACK. THAT SHORT CUT SUCKS! PERIOD
I beg to differ. The guys carry part of the show, but Kaley does as well and part of her appeal is her attractiveness. I didn’t like watching the show nearly as much after she chopped it. I’m a guy, sorry!
There’s something wrong with season 8. Did something change with the directors or the producers? The whole thing doesn’t seem so snappy or funny as it used to be. It’s kind of dull.
When Kaley cut her hair people noticed she wasn’t really all that attractive and it sort of ruined the show. People started noticing other things about it too and it just wasn’t that funny as it had been when there was a beautiful woman in the lead role
IMHO: TBBT seems to be dragging – situations have become so predictable that sometimes it’s not even necessary to watch the screen, just listen to the audio and you can hear it’s another rehashed scene that’s been used time and time again. Kaley Cuoco’s short hair doesn’t really seem to be the true problem (however, it seems her fans find her more attractive with long hair), but the real issue is her character completely changed so quickly that it became difficult to embrace or believe since “Penny” was no longer familiar in appearance or attitude. Yes, people mature, but a… Read more »
She cut her hair and the show lost 3.82 MILLION viewers per episode this season, compared to Season 7. STOP BEING ELLEN AND GO BACK TO BEING PENNY!
penny went from a hot girl to a mediocre looking short haired girl. ratings dropped. add some extensions or something or replace her with another hottie if you want ratings to return. I watch reruns, but the new short haired version I just change the channel. not interested.
3.2 demo for TBBT. Is that a series low? I looked back as far as season 5 on this site and last night was the lowest number during any of the last four seasons. Wow.
It hit a 3.2 on 5/5/10 and had a bunch of 2.x’s in the first season. Keep in mind, last night’s may rise in the finals.
Thank you for the details, and I see that it did come up in the finals. Nonetheless, a disappointing ratings season for one of my favorite shows. Not entirely unexpected, given that we’re talking about season 8, but I wonder if the powers that be will ask Kaley Cuoco about growing her hair longer!
I think its about time that this show was cancelled it is now a one joke show thats not even funny.
Penny is not funny this year, they have changed her and made her smart ,its like they changed actress. sheldon and her girlfriend are getting better, the rest of the team are the same, lenard has falling a bit behind this year.
Stop being such babies. Kaley Cuoco and Penny are two very different people. Belonging in two different universes, ergo they have nothing to do with each other, and the fact that you’re boycotting this awesome show, because of a statement made by one of it’s actress’s, just shows what is so very wrong with this world. That people actually live WAY too much in other medium’s than their actual lives, so as to caring too much about something that isn’t real, like celebrities’ lives’ (gossip, Perez Gay Hilton etc.) such as the example of the Chris Brown/Rihanna incident a few… Read more »
Well, if you think that Chris Brown is talented, right there is the problem with your comment, if THAT is the most talented of our times, the world has gone to the drain…
Chris Brown is the most talented singer of our times?, i hope you are kidding, if you really think that you don’t have much to give advice to the rest of us…
Can’t watch any more since Kaley/Penny cut her femininty off, choosing for some incomprehensible reason to go from funny hotty to a pitiful cougar look. I still watch the reruns, 4 or 5 a week, but not the butch-headed Penny ones.
I had to stop watching this show after Kaley Cuocu made the statement that demeaned women who believe in equal pay for women. She should learn about subjects before she makes hurtful and inaccurate statements. I just don’t think the show is funny anymore after that. But, I used to like it a lot. She ruined it.
Yeah, same here, but when she made the (another one, yes) stupid comment about the lion not loosing sleep (demeaning all their fans)… yeah sure, if she is a lion, i’m the president of mars… Next she will compare herself to Robert De Niro or Meryl Streep…
One sad example how the fame can affect someone (in a negative way)…
Penny, aka, is a actress playing a role in a series. She does not control everything that is written for her “character” to act out. The writers and the producers are in charge of how the actors/actresses play the roles they play. The producers, directors and the actors/actresses most likely have some imput into their characters role. But it is usually more than one person deciding how the characters develope.
