Tonight on NBC, The Blacklist returns after a long mid-season break. Today, the network announced that the top-rated drama will return for a third season as well.
The Blacklist revolves around one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives (James Spader) who begins helping the authorities if a particular rookie agent (Megan Boone) is his partner. Now, the FBI works for him as he identifies a “blacklist” of politicians, mobsters, spies and international terrorists. The other castmembers in this drama include Harry Lennix, Diego Klattenhoff, Ryan Eggold, and Amir Arison.
The nine episodes of season two that have aired so far have averaged a 3.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.83 million viewers. Compared to the first season, that’s up by 15% in the demo and 10% in total viewership.
The recent post-Super Bowl episode drew an 8.4 in the demo and 25.72 million. The network gave The Blacklist that coveted post-game airing to help promote the show’s move to Thursday nights where it will be going head-to-head with Scandal on ABC. Time will tell if this move is a permanent one but The Blacklist will certainly return for the 2015-16 season.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear that The Blacklist has been renewed for a third season? Do you think it will stay on Thursday nights?
I am so glad to know The Blacklist will be back for season 3. Its the best going.
Yay! This is truly my favorite show. So, glad it’s coming back!!
So glad Blacklist is renewed. Don’t care when it is on. G-d bless DVR.
Love the show. Especially James Spader. He has been my favorite for a long time. Doesn’t matter what night it is on as long as it comes back and James Spader is in it.
James Spader proves, hands down, he is one of America’s finest actors. Had you asked me two years ago, I would have laughed out-loud. Watch closely: the facial gestures, the movement, along with a line delivery that cannot be beat. I for one am thrilled that it was renewed…like my belief in James Spader. Fabulous.
Thank goodness this show was renewed for another season. With all the garbage the networks keep putting out there it is impossible to believe they would cancel one of the best, most suspenseful, well written shows on TV. I recommend it to EVERYONE who hasn’t yet watched it. James Spader’s performance as Raymond Reddington is first rate. Shame on the network execs if they are too blind to tell a good show like this from all the bad, poorly written shows that are out there right now.
The Blacklist is the best show on TV
I am glad it has been renewed for a third season, though I do not know if it should have been moved to Thursday , lots of competition on Thursdays.
This is the best show on the network…and one of the top shows on TV today. Please don’t screw it up playing with the schedule.
This is is awesome, I wasn’t a big James Spader fan before but now I am a fan of his. This show is off the charts.
By far the most riveting show I have ever seen. The writing for this show is stellar. I will go into a major depression if this show were to ever stop airing
The BEST show on TV. Even watch it on vacation!! James Spader is awesome along with the rest of the cast. Won’t forgive NBC if not renewed for a third season.
Thank heavens its back Finally we have a great series with exceptional actors ….it has to keep going !!!!!!
