Debuting last fall, The Blacklist was the biggest new TV show of the season and even performed well in the ratings without The Voice as a lead-in. Can it survive a move to another night? Will the NBC execs regret giving it a full season renewal? Cancelled or renewed for season three? We’ll have to wait and see.
The Blacklist revolves around one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives (James Spader) who begins helping the authorities if a particular rookie agent (Megan Boone) is his partner. Now, the FBI works for him as he identifies a “blacklist” of politicians, mobsters, spies and international terrorists. The other castmembers in this drama include Harry Lennix, Diego Klattenhoff, Ryan Eggold, and Amir Arison.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
2/5 update: NBC has renewed The Blacklist for a third season for 2015-16. Details here.
Final season averages: 2.35 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.51 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
For comparisons: The first season of The Blacklist averaged a 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.79 million total viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like The Blacklist TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a third season?
In case anyone here forgot, “The Blacklist” is already planned to air an episode in the coveted post-Super Bowl timeslot on 1 February 2o15, and then move from Mondays at 10 pm to Thursdays at 9 pm later in the week. I’m betting that its Thursday ratings will be lower 2’s in the 18-49 demo with 8 million total viewers. If the ratings stay at that level, it’ll probably stay at the Thursday slot for the remainder of its original run. It’s not like NBC is planning to bounce this already-successful show around its schedule..
If they remove the Blacklist I am done with this network. There is so much on Cable now we don’t need far to look for another show. This is one of the best series if not the best series already. Shows go up and down. Take this off, or screw with the nights it’s on, I am done. They will never get my business of watching again. I am tired of this. People should send a message. On the station FX they wanted to cancel American Horror Story, the fans started to cancel their cable subscriptions because it was the… Read more »
VERY Entertaining…and an amusing James Spader…remembering him from Stargate and one episode of Seinfeld (WITH HAIR!)among a plethorea of films in the 80’s.
(Wall Street among others) Wonder how he will fare as ULTRON in the Marvel Universe yet to come? Regardless this IS must see TV for 201x !!!
Is there really talk of NBC moving this show??? Don’t!!!! When will the ” Mad Programer” stop moving shows about willy nilly. It works where it is now. I agree with Lois that the 2nd season has an even better vibe. Still watching and enjoying.

I don’t watch a lot of television, but when I do, I make sure THE BLACKLIST is on my agenda of “must see entertainment.” The drama is riveting, the acting is superb and the writing is engaging. I have my family members watching the first season to catch up on netflix. They absolutely Love this show. Also Monday Night Football airs at the same time. Everyone I know watches it on Demand & The Computer. Please look into the ratings…
I’m not trying to put down any show, by any means, but NBC, I hope you see this. There’s a significant fan base to “The Blacklist” currently. I feel that could stay in place for quite some time, and though the ratings will fall and rise; it’s just like the stock market. It’s bound to happen at times. Keep this show on, regardless! There are so many unanswered questions that need answered, and it just keeps getting better! If you (NBC) can keep things like “Law & Order” on for several seasons, and that merely has the formula of “case… Read more »
