Debuting last fall, The Blacklist was the biggest new TV show of the season and even performed well in the ratings without The Voice as a lead-in. Can it survive a move to another night? Will the NBC execs regret giving it a full season renewal? Cancelled or renewed for season three? We’ll have to wait and see.
The Blacklist revolves around one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives (James Spader) who begins helping the authorities if a particular rookie agent (Megan Boone) is his partner. Now, the FBI works for him as he identifies a “blacklist” of politicians, mobsters, spies and international terrorists. The other castmembers in this drama include Harry Lennix, Diego Klattenhoff, Ryan Eggold, and Amir Arison.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
2/5 update: NBC has renewed The Blacklist for a third season for 2015-16. Details here.
Final season averages: 2.35 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.51 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
For comparisons: The first season of The Blacklist averaged a 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.79 million total viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like The Blacklist TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a third season?
Love this show. Monday or Thursday just make up your mind
do not cancel the black list! Best show in years. I beg you do not cancel it
So glad you are renewing the Blacklist. It’s a show that sometimes needs to be seen twice to completely understand. Don’t mind that all. Regularly pick up something that I lost in translation. A GREAT INTELLIGENT MYSTERY. MY SPOUSE SAYS I SHOULD HAVE BEEN A DETECTIVE.
fantastic show ,i love it James Spader is excellent ,what the heck the whole crew is fantastic leave this show alone do not remove
The BlackList is GREAT! Always liked James Spader and in this show he’s just too bad! Move this back to Monday (NBC – are you listening?) and all will be well. My number one show of the week – I wouldn’t miss it…..
My friends joke that if I like a show, it’s ratings will plummet & if I hate a show, its ratings will skyrocket. They brought it up after I fumed over Allegience getting shitcanned. If this was true, The Blacklist will get cancelled & The Voice will never go away.
NBC is releasing the remaining episodes of Allegiance one at a time on its website (Thursdays, 7 p.m.) and On Demand (weekly). I’ve enjoyed the last couple. Don’t know how long it will last or if it will end with any sort of closure.
They need to move The Blacklist back to Mondays!!
Amy you are absolutely right. I have said the same thing before as have others. But for some reason the ‘mad progammers’ at NBC have no sense. To move it opposite Scandal was an idiotic move, but I have seen them to similar stunts before.
I love The Blacklist; if NBC cancels this show I will boycott them forever. I only started watching regular cable because of this show;other then that, I think it’s oversaturated with reality (you must be joking) television, that stuff is garbage. Keep Blacklist going!!!
I looooooove The Blacklist. Hate the move to Thursday night though.
AN ABSOLUTE MUST SEE! I WATCH RELIGIOUSLY! JUST STARTED WATCHING DURING SEASON 3 PREMIERE AND CAUGHT UP WITH SEASON 1 ON NETFLIX. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!
Superior ‘drama’ on NBC; as far as *I* am concerned it is a MUST KEEP
Still love The Blacklist, but some idiot programmer at NBC must not. To move it to opposite Scandal was a idiotic move. But unfortunately I have seen NBC do this same stunt before.
I think the whole ratings game is ridiculous. The stupid networks move shows around like pieces of candy at a childs party. The Blacklist is a must see…..awesome work for everyone involved.
Cancel this show. Watched the 1st season but after the season 2 premiere stopped watching. I’m not sure why but I lost intrest in this show. Nbc did a horrible job FOR Thursday nights. Both the slap and allegiance are doing horrendous both with less than 4 million viewers after 3 episodes. They should have kept it on Monday. Not saying I would watch it but it was a bad job by NBC because ABC has 3 killer shows on Thursday that are hard to compete with.
I agree The Slap is not a good lead in for The Blacklist, but The Blacklist is doing well despite that. Allegiance is another intelligent show that is not for everyone. If you think the shows on ABC are better than The Blacklist then maybe it’s not the show for you. In the L+7 ratings The Blacklist is killing it. And isn’t that why they make DVRs.
This show is a must see, it’s sophisticated and the dialog intelligent. Love all the plot twists, keeps me on the edge of my imagination. Indubitably, renew. Amidst all the mindless TV shows, this one deserves high marks.
