The end is coming for The Bonnie Hunt Show after two seasons on the air. Hosted by actress and comedian Bonnie Hunt, the Warner Bros. syndicated show has been struggling in the ratings essentially since it debuted.
The series has stayed on the air for two seasons mainly because NBC-owned stations had made a two-year deal. Warners could have pulled the plug last spring but instead showed faith and hoped that ratings would improve. Now that the agreement is coming to an end, so is The Bonnie Hunt Show.
Hunt reportedly gave the bad news to her staff on Monday morning but the cancellation wasn’t officially confirmed until last night.
By all accounts, the daytime series will remain in production and complete the season so there are lots of new episodes to come.
What do you think? Why did the show fail? Is there no room for more than a couple of daytime talk shows, like The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show? Or, is there something lacking in Hunt’s show?

BONNIE I HOPE LIKE HELL YOU AND CAROL BURNETT BURN SOME BRIDGES TOGETHER WHAT A GREAT SHOW THAT WAS AND WARNER BROS YOUR HEARTLESS … REDEEM YOURSELF
I was very disappointed to hear that The Bonnie Hunt Show was cancelled. I watched it everyday. I’m 48, going through a particularly difficult time in my life, and I look forward to watching her everyday. She really cheered me up. She is very talented, and I think that ABC made a mistake!!! She is very down to earth, and just like you and me. What is she going to do now? And is there a chance they will bring the show back?
Good luck Bonnie! I love you!!!
Why can’t we keep The Bonnie Hunt Show? It needs to move to another channel to reach more people. Now that Oprah and Tyra are in their final season, move her show into one of those slots, she would do well. This show is something to look forward to daily it gives you a great way to start the day. There are two other talk shows on major networks that really, really need to be cancelled not Bonnie Hunt! More promotional advertising for the show would have helped. If you did not run across it by flipping channels you did… Read more »
I havr thought of that so often – the TV channel(s) did not do right by Bonnie !! I’ve never enjoyed a talk show as much as “The Bonnie Hunt Show” ..
I assume Tom means that by posting comments to keep the show on — will the network possibly reconsider and not cancel it.
@Judy: I doubt they’re going to change their decision. Production has wrapped and people have moved on to other projects.

Are any of these remarks about Bonnie Hunt Cancelation having any impact on the producer’s to rethink their decision?
@Tom: No, I doubt it.
Well, What will it take then? She had a fan base, but she wasn’t promoted properly. Most people found her ‘by accident’ then found out she was canceled. Did the ‘big wigs’ at Warner Bros. ever watch her? If so, why didn’t they promote her. It’s all NUMBERS, but she can’t get NUMBERS if she isn’t P-R-O-M-O-T-E-D !!

Are these comments doing any good?????
@Tom: I don’t understand what you’re asking.
I’ve already left comments, but I never see them listed in your “Comments” section. So I say again that Bonnie is a loving, caring, FUN person. I love the way she chats with the band and the audience and the whole crew as well as her mom. It’s like my best friend is visiting when her program is on. She is a wealth of wonderful stories about people and animals and herself! I want her show to continue because she helps us all to be better people with appreciation for each other and the opportunities that come our way. She… Read more »

I was so disappointed to hear that theBonnie Hunt show was being discontinued. I will really miss her because I don’t enjoy the alternatives any more. We need a funny, friendly, down-home program like Bonnie has, certainly not more of Rosie O’Donnell!
I love the feeling she and her crew have for each other, and of course, her mother’s part in the program.
To all you morons who are glad The Bonnie Hunt Show is gone, are you just too stupid to turn the channel? And to the last comment I received, why don’t the stupid policitians who send you military people in harms way do anything for you when you get back? Why don’t you ***** about them? It’s the civilians who help the military when they are serving the country and when they get back. As for Bonnie Hunt, she’s done a lot to help people including those in the military. Obviously you spent a lot of time watching her show… Read more »
I’ve said it before, I’m glad she’s gone. The show does not do anything (in my case) for the military. There should at least have ONE TV show that does something for them because they do so much for us. Thank you
What a stupid statement! How should The Bonnie Hunt Show support the military, (in your case)? She is already very patriotic! What did you want the show to do? Does Ellen and Oprah meet your standards? You say there should be at least ONE TV show, that supports the military because they do so much for us. What do you require a show to do, to support the military, (in your case).
Please bring Bonnie back! Her show is heartfelt and such a delight. I enjoy her friendly approach and the way she interviews her mother Alice. Watching her show has been one of the highlights of my day and I will greatly miss it. I no longer like the direction Oprah is going. Looks likes I’m going to be reading more and watching TV less.
I LOVE this show. It’s nice, funny and a good clean feel good show. I like the “old TV time” appeal. It’s upbeat and uplifting. It doesn’t glorify and exploit all the negative. But gives that “sigh of relief” feeling. A real comfort show. Something we all could benefit from. Very surprised at the “”low ratings.” Anyone I know that has watched the show, loves it. Maybe a different time slot?? Like 4pm…or evening?
Bonnie Hunt will be greatly missed. It was so nice to start the day with her wonderful Humor. We recorded the show because it was on at the same time as Regis and Kelly. That was probably the downfall of the show. We will miss ya.
I’m just so sad to hear of Bonnie’s departure. She has the only show that is worth watching each day and one that always leaves me with a good feeling. Bonnie is so unpretentious and she has a definite talent of bringing out the best in her great guests. I was an ABC Oprah fan for years, but since Bonnie’s show is on at the same time here in Southern California, I’ve switched to NBC. Bah, humbug!!!!!!!!!1
I am, too, so disappointed that Bonnie’s show was cancelled. I guess it just wasn’t vulgar enough to be likable. I loved that it was such an old fashioned show. Maybe I’m just an old fogie, to like her clean jokes and her loving relationship with her mom, at 53.
