The end is coming for The Bonnie Hunt Show after two seasons on the air. Hosted by actress and comedian Bonnie Hunt, the Warner Bros. syndicated show has been struggling in the ratings essentially since it debuted.
The series has stayed on the air for two seasons mainly because NBC-owned stations had made a two-year deal. Warners could have pulled the plug last spring but instead showed faith and hoped that ratings would improve. Now that the agreement is coming to an end, so is The Bonnie Hunt Show.
Hunt reportedly gave the bad news to her staff on Monday morning but the cancellation wasn’t officially confirmed until last night.
By all accounts, the daytime series will remain in production and complete the season so there are lots of new episodes to come.
What do you think? Why did the show fail? Is there no room for more than a couple of daytime talk shows, like The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show? Or, is there something lacking in Hunt’s show?

Bring her back, please! She seemed like a genuine lady; one many of us could relate too.
Some times it takes a good show awhile before it becomes one of the best shows ever. She is like the Carol Burnett show, every one in the team is working togeather. The way she interacts with the crew is awsume and her Mom what a gift for her show. Please bring her back.
I can only agree with everything said in all the messages sent in above. Hers was the best show ever, friendly, funny and the crew was a great bunch of people. Love Alice.
Please bring her back, it is the ONLY talk show I truly enjoy.
Sadly, the mid- afternoon TV slot is often an impending death sentence for shows. Bonnie Hunt offered beautifully timed jokes and witty repartee, yet her upbeat comedy was not enough to save the show. She excelled in the genre of talk shows, but fewer audiences are home during the mid- afternoon time slot, and because of this, the death knoll rang far too early for Bonnie Hunt. This mid- western comedic gem should have been offered another talk show on weeknight evenings. What a shame that NBC did not realizing the potential of adding many more viewers, while offering something… Read more »
I am a guy, but I enjoyed her show. Been out of work almost a year so get to watch alot of TV. HATE Oprah and Ellen is a FAKE. Bonnie is REAL. So many networks, I will look for her to get a better deal on another show.
I have no idea what the network thinks, because she has the best and only talk show on TV I watch.. I love the crew, her mother and everything she does on her show. She is one classy lady. I will miss seeing you @11:00am everyday. I plan my schedule around her show..But for every door that closes a window opens.. Good Luck to Bonnie & Crew.
We all need to cancel our Cable TV till she comes back on! They’d find a way to get her back on some channel real quick.
I do not know why the show did not make it. I am not a big TV watcher, but I always
made sure to turn her on. When it was over, I turned my TV off! She was all American,
down to earth, loving, funny, trustworthy, kind, and very funny. Maybe our society
today wants more sex and mayhem!! She was herself a warm puppy!! I will miss her!
Why do all the good ones end????
So very sorry to see that the Bonnie Hunt show has come to an end. I work a 40 hour plus week, so was only able to watch when I was home sick (which wasn’t often), or when we were closed for a holiday. I looked forward to those days off so I could catch her show. She’s bright, refressing and funny and most of all, a great all around woman. Shame on you For letter her go,SHAME SHAME SHAME ON YOU!! Bonnie, keep your chin up, it’s not you, it’s the network nuts who can’t see what you have… Read more »
YOU WILL BE MISSED IN MY HOME BONNIE, ALICE & CREW
THIS SUCKS!!!! I DO NOT WANT THE BONNIE HUNT SHOW TO COME TO AN END!!!!!! LET ME GUESS….ANOTHER REALITY FAKE STUPID SHOW?!?!?!?
I can’t believe your show has come to an end. Nobody interacts with the crew better than you. I love your mother Alice. With all the crap that’s on now, your show was worth watching and I’ve had great laughs. I get so irrated when a show comes along that is worth watching and extremly entertaining and it gets cancelled. Well it’s their loss and I wish you well whatever may come along even if it’s a halfway decent man.
The networks dont promote anything but stupid, assinine reality shows…. I refuse to watch them and am sad to see quality tv like The Bonnie Hunt Show fade away due to such low values held by the NBC executives.
I adore Bonnie Hunt and her show. How typical of top executives to decide to cancel a show that is poignant, thoughtful and very, very funny. Bonnie is truly everything we see on the screen, she is generous, smart, compassionate and extraordinarily gifted with brining out the best in people. If there was a way to boycott the whole of NBC, I would do it. Thumbs down to the executives that made the incredibly poor call of deciding to remove the show. I just hope that Bonnie will be swept up by another channel so that we may continue to… Read more »
I am also so sad to learn that The Bonnie Hunt Show has been cancelled 🙁 I have recently taken an early retirement and while taking my time looking for part time employment, I have been enjoying the show. I adore her down to earth personality and quick wit! She also has a great crew and they all interact so well together. It is surprising and disappointing to her fans that the ratings were not higher and we are losing this entertaining show. You are a great gal, Bonnie Hunt!! Best Always!
