The end is coming for The Bonnie Hunt Show after two seasons on the air. Hosted by actress and comedian Bonnie Hunt, the Warner Bros. syndicated show has been struggling in the ratings essentially since it debuted.
The series has stayed on the air for two seasons mainly because NBC-owned stations had made a two-year deal. Warners could have pulled the plug last spring but instead showed faith and hoped that ratings would improve. Now that the agreement is coming to an end, so is The Bonnie Hunt Show.
Hunt reportedly gave the bad news to her staff on Monday morning but the cancellation wasn’t officially confirmed until last night.
By all accounts, the daytime series will remain in production and complete the season so there are lots of new episodes to come.
What do you think? Why did the show fail? Is there no room for more than a couple of daytime talk shows, like The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show? Or, is there something lacking in Hunt’s show?

This is so sad! I love The Bonnie Hunt Show. This has been a highlight of my day. My son loves her sense of humor and was bummed out that he misses it because he started high school this year. He actually said he was looking forward to summer vacation, so he could watch Bonnie again. She appeals to so many different levels and people. She is real. Is that why her show is being pulled? So many of the other shows have phony hosts that care only about ratings and not about actual people. It is sad in our… Read more »
I am so sad to hear the Bonnie Hunt show is cancelled. She is very real, funny, wholesome and did I say funny! Have they tried another time slot like they do with other shows? don’t take away this show, there’s something very entertaining about down to earth celebrities that make you feel like they’re talking to you like family in your own living room.
this is one of the funniest, most heartwarming and wholesome shows on tv. it’s family friendly, raises money for cancer research, and is a delight to watch. bonnie and her crew are delightful, talented people. she has a beautiful singing voice, too. i was shocked and dismayed to hear of the cancellation. can’t something be done to keep her show on?
The Bonnie Hunt Show should not go off the air. We have enjoyed watching her show since it first aired. Always funny and real, any age can watch it. Bonnie is sweet and seems very sincere!!! Can you find a way to keep her show on?
I feel that the Bonnie Hunt show is wholesome and gives us hope that there are still people with integrity in in this country. We need her show to stay on. Maybe you could just move it to a time when more folks are home to watch it. I am just about ready to turn my TVoff. Life isn’t just about ratings. We need Bonnie Hunt.
THE BONNIE HUNT SHOW should not be cancelled – everyday peoples can relate
i’ve tried to watch tyra but she has such off the wall subjects and peoples – i don’t understand – the coast cities may relate but there are more of us in the middle of this county – where do the networks get their rating – they need to talk with normal people
It figures, the good clean shows are yanked so that the trashy tv shows can have a place. Bonnie is the last of the hosts with integrity and morals. But there is always room for the pathetic Maury Povich and Jerry Springer types!
I am a widower living in Scottsdale AZ. I don’t watch Oprah or De generes or any other talk show. But I do find Bonnie Hunt very refreshing. I guess good shows never last, just the junk. The TV producers consider the average viewer a dummy who needs a laugh track to be entertained. Sorry to see the shhw go.
Can’t believe this – the best show on TV good – clean – caring – helpful (cancer & the dog segments) entertainment and it is cancelled??? So bad TV is coming again then?!?!?
This show is the most wonderful program since Johnny Carson. Hate for it to end.
This country is going to hell in a hand basket…Bonnie has a nice witty wholesome show that is a great alternative to the reality shows, soaps, game shows or news….just another talent like Conan rolled over by the corporate machine….way to go!
Say it isn’t so! The Bonnie Hunt Show is fabulous – kind, gentle, funny, human and real. Values I recognize. They can’t go off the air!
My family just adores BONNIE Hunt and are heartbroken that her show has been cancelled. The Bonnie Hunt show is one of the few television shows we watch. She is so sweet and sincere and brings a very peaceful, calming effect on us. I can’ tell you much we hope you change your minds and let her show remain on the air .She’ a real genuine doll.
I see some are beginning to understand that the networks care nothing about their viewers. Apparently they never did, but I must say I don’t understand how it works. One would think that they would worry about their sponsors who *should* be worrying about their customers-right? That is what keeps them in business and yet no one seems to care. Theoretically, if you want to keep a show on the air, you put pressuere on the sponsors. Is this being done to save Bonnie’s show-or any others one wants to save? If so, is it working?
BECAUSE…..ITS….N FREAKING BC!! YOU SAW WHAT THEY JUST DID TO CONAN O’BRIAN! THEY DONT CARE ABOUT ANYONE JUST THEMSELVES AND NOW WE ARE LOSING OUR DEAR SWEET HILARIOUS BONNIE!!!
If the rest of the country is like where I live the Bonnie Hunt Show (which for the record, I LOVE) was replaced on daytime for the Dr. Oz show. Bonnie was moved to 3 am. How does a show have a chance when they move it to a time no one will watch it!! I hate to see Bonnie go, she was refreshing and like having a friend in my livingroom. I blame it on the stations for not giving her a chance or not giving her a good time spot.
