The brave officers of The Chicago Code fight for what’s right in their fair city. Unfortunately, that battle doesn’t attract enough viewers to keep their TV show on the air. FOX has cancelled the cop show after one season.
Created by The Shield’s Shawn Ryan, The Chicago Code revolves around the officers of the Chicago Police Department. Veteran detective Jarek Wysocki (Jason Clarke) leads a special unit that fights against crime and corruption in the windy city. Others in the cast include Jennifer Beals, Matt Lauria, Devin Kelley, Todd Williams, Billy Lush, and Delroy Lindo.
The series debuted to an okay 2.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.43 million total viewers. In week two, it dropped 17% in the demo and the ratings kept dropping in subsequent weeks.

On May 2nd, The Chicago Code hit a series low with a meager 1.6 in the demo and 5.59 million viewers. Last Monday’s episode bumped up to a 1.7 rating but that’s still far from a good number.
Looking at FOX season averages, the cop TV series is the second lowest-rated drama still on the air (after Fringe on Friday nights).
FOX has now decided to cancel The Chicago Code after one season and 13 episodes. The remaining two unaired episodes will air on the next two Mondays, May 12th and May 23rd.
Ryan reacted on Twitter by writing, “Fox suits loved the show, but have a business to run.”

Just watched the series finale and was at least glad that it was a decent finale but really ticked off at FOX yet again canceling a show and not giving it a chance. Im hoping some other network might pick up the show..
Fox is KILLING all the shows I watch, so it looks like I’m just down to Fringe. LIE TO ME and THE CHICAGO CODE ; what the hell Fox? Any advertisers lurking? Really??? Fox is keeping Bob’s Burgers on for another season, and canceling the Chicago Code??? I would love for another network to pick it up. I think its one of the best police drama’s in a long time, and its not all CSI–ish. Come on FOX, bring it back!!!!
Too bad. Not a great show but better than average and getting better week by week. I watch it religiously, but usually from the DVR as DWTS takes priority in the family. 😉
Hopefully, FOX will give it another chance in a different time slot. Same thought applies to FRINGE.
A great show and a welcome departure from some of the reality crap on TV today. It is too bad it was not given a better time slot.

We loved Chicago Code, it was a quality show. We were sad to here it was not coming back. I am so sick of those so called reality shows. I guess that is the mentality of the people that watch those shows. Detroit 187 was also a great show. I get tired of shows that make some piece of trash like ” Snooky ” a star, what a joke.
It’s sad when a good show isn’t given a chance. More shows should be given a chance to build an audience. It seems like the networks want instant results or they cancel. It would be nice to see shows be given a chance. Detroit 187, Chase and Law & Order: Los Angeles all were excellent shows and they suffered the same fate. It sure makes it frustrating to get involved in a storyline only to have it unresolved. Sigh….

Another GREAT show cancelled. Too smartly written for the moron masses to follow while fiddling with their dumbphones at the same time. Kittens have no attention span, but Fox suits count their numbers & are trying to find the catnip toy that can keep them loyal viewers. Futile effort trying to corral the cats. Great acting by the entire cast of Chicago Code! Great job all around. Just too good of a show in today’s distracted viewers world. Sad. No leadership at Fox. I DONT KNOW ABOUT THE REST OF YOU, BUT THE CHICAGO CODE IS THE ONLY SHOW I WATCH ON FOX. IF ITS GONE I HAVE NO REASON TO WATCH FOX AT ALL. IT WAS A GREAT SHOW AND DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE CANCELLED. ANOTHER NETWORK SHOULD PICK IT UP!!!!!!!
