The brave officers of The Chicago Code fight for what’s right in their fair city. Unfortunately, that battle doesn’t attract enough viewers to keep their TV show on the air. FOX has cancelled the cop show after one season.
Created by The Shield’s Shawn Ryan, The Chicago Code revolves around the officers of the Chicago Police Department. Veteran detective Jarek Wysocki (Jason Clarke) leads a special unit that fights against crime and corruption in the windy city. Others in the cast include Jennifer Beals, Matt Lauria, Devin Kelley, Todd Williams, Billy Lush, and Delroy Lindo.
The series debuted to an okay 2.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.43 million total viewers. In week two, it dropped 17% in the demo and the ratings kept dropping in subsequent weeks.

On May 2nd, The Chicago Code hit a series low with a meager 1.6 in the demo and 5.59 million viewers. Last Monday’s episode bumped up to a 1.7 rating but that’s still far from a good number.
Looking at FOX season averages, the cop TV series is the second lowest-rated drama still on the air (after Fringe on Friday nights).
FOX has now decided to cancel The Chicago Code after one season and 13 episodes. The remaining two unaired episodes will air on the next two Mondays, May 12th and May 23rd.
Ryan reacted on Twitter by writing, “Fox suits loved the show, but have a business to run.”

This is one of the BEST shows on “regular” TV to watch. Most people are tired of the “reality” shows. Don’t cancel the show, if Monday night is not working give it a chance on a different night of the week first. I do miss it on most Monday nights being busy like most people but I do catch up with On-Line Viewing. Never miss a weekly episode and I watch them more than once On-Line. Give the Code a chance!!!
Two of the most intense characters ever seen on television – Teresa Colvin and Alderman Gibbons. This Monday’s episode had me on the edge of my seat, grabbing the couch cushions and trying not to scream. That’s how intense this show is. I tend not to like cop dramas, but Shawn Ryan seems to have a way to make this kind of television work (ie: The Shield). This is one of the only shows I make a point to watching every week. The acting is awesome. The story line is good and, no, it’s not all that unique (in that it it’s a cop show) but it is entertaining. I agree with all of the other posters. Bring Chicago Code back!! What petition do I have to sign?
This show was awesome aswell as the actors and actresses in it. I’m actually really sad that I won’t get to see the way the story plays out. GREAT GREAT SHOW!
Are you kidding??? This is our entertainment and it seems like you got rid of all the shows that we watch. It is too expensive to go out anywhere… We are in our 40’s and enjoy just relaxing.. My husband and I record everything on our dvr and we wait until the weekend and just watch a marathon of shows. Reality shows do not compare….You are making a huge mistake…Please reconsider….Ask the public what they want……Thanks for Listening
Fox, really? This show was awesome! Finally a good police drama with a good cast and writing. I think it is a mistake to take this off air, at least give it another season and see what happens. I mean how does something like Cleveland or Bones manage to stay on? Bad move fox and very upset this show isn’t coming back:(
If Fox network cancels Chicago Code, a very big mistake is being made, this is one of the most quality police drama showa on the current television season.

OMG!!!!!! Are u guys crazy!!!??? This is by far one of the best shows on tv! Every show on tv now is some stupid reality show. This show is so real! The actors are ALL great! I look forward to this show every Monday. Soooooo disappointing! You should really think about this big mistake you’re making!!! Pleeeeeeeease…….. Rethink Chicago Code!

Please bring this back!! This is the only show that my husband and I actually agree on and look forward to watching. Do ratings not count if you DVR it and watch later??
While I realize they have a business to run they have to give the show some time. The show was finally pulling in several people I know and catching on with those that had started watching it. Everyone I talk to say they no longer watch these shows because every time they find one they like such as this one the network wont even give it a second year to see if the viewers will continue to grow.
I love the show, my wife and I watch it faithfuly.
