The brave officers of The Chicago Code fight for what’s right in their fair city. Unfortunately, that battle doesn’t attract enough viewers to keep their TV show on the air. FOX has cancelled the cop show after one season.
Created by The Shield’s Shawn Ryan, The Chicago Code revolves around the officers of the Chicago Police Department. Veteran detective Jarek Wysocki (Jason Clarke) leads a special unit that fights against crime and corruption in the windy city. Others in the cast include Jennifer Beals, Matt Lauria, Devin Kelley, Todd Williams, Billy Lush, and Delroy Lindo.
The series debuted to an okay 2.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.43 million total viewers. In week two, it dropped 17% in the demo and the ratings kept dropping in subsequent weeks.

On May 2nd, The Chicago Code hit a series low with a meager 1.6 in the demo and 5.59 million viewers. Last Monday’s episode bumped up to a 1.7 rating but that’s still far from a good number.
Looking at FOX season averages, the cop TV series is the second lowest-rated drama still on the air (after Fringe on Friday nights).
FOX has now decided to cancel The Chicago Code after one season and 13 episodes. The remaining two unaired episodes will air on the next two Mondays, May 12th and May 23rd.
Ryan reacted on Twitter by writing, “Fox suits loved the show, but have a business to run.”

This was one of the few police shows that kept me in suspense every week. I’m so tired of the phoney reality shows. I hope another network is smart enough to pick it up. Very disappointed that FOX keeps a boring and old show like HOUSE and won’t give this one a chance. Sorry Fox station has lost my viewing.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING! THE SHOW IS A WINNER AND I LOOKED FORWARD TO WATCHING IT EACH WEEK. WHY NOT GIVE IT A SECOND SEASON AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. I WATCH SO FEW SHOWS ON THE FOX NETWORK AND NOW I KNOW WHY……….THEY CANCEL THOSE THAT HAVE APPEAL!
I DON’T THINK THIS SHOW WAS GIVEN A CHANCE, IT WAS WELL WRITTEN AND IT SHOWED A LOT ABOUT CHICAGO. I WAS BROUGHT UP IN THAT CITY AND I FOUND IT SO INTERESTING AS I HAD A LOT OF FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS IN THE POLICE FORCE AND IN POLITICS. I AM SORRY TO SEE IT LEAVE AND I SICK OF REALITY SHOWS TAKING OVER ALL THE NETWORKS. MOST OF THEM REALLY STINK.
chicago code just needs a bit a tweaking in the cast and beals’ story line. the entire cast is great except jason clarke and todd williams who should play salesmen or teachers – not cops. more beals please! her story should be the lead. and where’s her love interest? her love interests can be her current police body guard/driver, or boris kodjoe, rick fox, chayanne, jeff goldblum, ken natanabe, giancarlo esposito, erik estrada, antonio sabato, or seal. all these guys are excellent and have a ton of charisma. try to think outside the box. any love interest story line should… Read more »
This is a high quality show, one of the best series I’ve seen. The casting/acting is superb. Story line is intelligent, interesting and exciting. Photography and music great, etc, etc, etc.
Chicago Code and Blue Bloods have both been superb Cop shows.

This is a high quality show, one of the best series I’ve seen. The action never stops. It is so well written it holds my interest from beginning to end. It behooves me to figure out why a show like ‘Hawaii 5-0’ gets renewed and Chicago Code gets the axe…..
I love this show! It is so good. The parts of all the characters are well played, and each episode brings a different thing to the table. PLEASE keep it running, at least for a 2nd season.

Finally a show that catches and hold my attention to the point that I cannot wait until the next Monday to see what will happen and then it gets cancelled. I am still in shock. Another good show gone too soon. Come on FOX get it together.
Ditto!!!! I actually watch it LIVE, it is so good. I can’t wait for the dvr to record it. How can you shut down Einstein just because the masses don’t get it (yet). They will eventually. Fox just needs to nurture this brilliant cast & crew from top to bottom. Fox suits didn’t do their job well enough, educating the masses on why they should pay attention to this show. Another smartly written program bites the dust. I would hate to think this show didn’t have a more significant audience because viewers were watching some of the more mind-numbing reality programming. Please say it isn’t so!
