Last May, fans of The CW’s sitcom, The Game, were upset to learn that the sitcom had been cancelled after three seasons on the air. Though there was some resolution in the last episode, it was hardly satisfying enough for devoted viewers. The web has recently been abuzz with news that the show is coming back but can you believe it?
Created by Mara Brock Akil, The Game began as a spin-off of the long-running comedy, Girlfriends. The series centers around a first year medical student (Tia Mowry) who chooses to follow her pro-football boyfriend (Pooch Hall) to San Diego. Others in the cast include Brittany Daniel, Coby Bell, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Hosea Chanchez, and Barry Floyd.
Even before the show was cancelled by the CW, there was talk about the possibility of Black Entertainment Television (BET) picking up the show for a fourth year. The cable-channel has been playing the sitcom repeats and the show fits in with their other programming.
In July, Mowry told TV Guide, “[BET chairman and CEO] Debra Lee is trying everything and anything to make this happen. The Game gets higher ratings than BET’s original programming, and we’ve heard there would be a huge marketing campaign. So I personally believe the show would be taken to another level.”

Unfortunately, there’s been little word of any real progress since then. Last week, rumors started circulating that a deal had been struck between BET and the show’s studio, CBS Television. Unfortunately, they turned out to be false.
Last night, Mowry put the rumors to rest. Via her Twitter account, she wrote, “I am so sorry to tell you this, this whole THE GAME thing getting picked up is NOT true! After talking to agents lawyers etc it is not true.” A deal may still happen but, for the moment, there isn’t one.
When or if a new deal is made, it remains to be seen how it would work. The contracts for the cast and creatives have lapsed so new ones would have to be negotiated. Because BET has less money to spend, they’d likely have to take pay cuts.
On top of that, some of those involved with the show have also moved on to other projects and may not be available. Hall is working on CBS’ new sitcom Accidentally on Purpose, Mowry has several projects in the works, and Akil is part of ABC’s new Cougar Town comedy with Courteney Cox Arquette.

This is my one of my favorite shows on television, I absolutely cannot get enough of it. I love the characters and they all work so well together. It would truely be tragic if this show isn’t picked up for a 4th season! PLEASE BRINH THE GAME BACK!

Please bring The Game back.Me and my kids really love the show ,it is amazing.It’s the best show I’ve seen yet.I watch the reruns every time they come on, no matter how many times it comes on. I am watching every evening and I even stay up late nights to watch the reruns.Can you PLEASE PLEASE bring the show back because it is nothing else interesting on tv to watch.It is the best show ever.

THE SHOW REALLY HITS HOME AND RELATES TO EVERY DAY SITUATIONS AND MAKES U WANT TO BE INVOLVED WITH THESE WONDERFUL R BE APART OF THEIR SHOW…..I JUST WISH THEY COME BACK WITH SEASONS AFTER SEASONS CUZ I KNOW I WANT GET BORED WATCHIN IT….QUIT GIVEN UP ON US!!!!!
please bring this show back I love this show me and my man has connected together since this show has been on I was to hurt to here that is has been cancel you guys left us hanging the way it went off now we will never no how it end it with the baby being born

You guys need to find a way to bring it back, there is so many unanswered questions and I hate the way it ended. It’s a great show I watch it all the time online since I couldnt always get home in time to watch it on tv but it needs to be brought back even for just one more season!!!!!

Please bring the show back with the orginal characters. It just won’t be the same if they weren’t there. GAME CAST please allow us to continue to be entertained by you all, the budget may not be there in the beginning but with all of the new viewers I’m sure BET would be able to compensate you guys very well.
I am not a big fan of BET programming, but I found this show by accident and can watch it for hours at a time. This ensemble cast is very talented and appears to work so well together. The characters are very believable. The writing is great. I can’t get enough! I’ll be very disappointed if someone doesn’t pick up this amazing show. I don’t watch a lot of tv shows plagued with commercials, but I enjoy this show tremendously and hope that it has a bright a bright a future.
