Last May, fans of The CW’s sitcom, The Game, were upset to learn that the sitcom had been cancelled after three seasons on the air. Though there was some resolution in the last episode, it was hardly satisfying enough for devoted viewers. The web has recently been abuzz with news that the show is coming back but can you believe it?
Created by Mara Brock Akil, The Game began as a spin-off of the long-running comedy, Girlfriends. The series centers around a first year medical student (Tia Mowry) who chooses to follow her pro-football boyfriend (Pooch Hall) to San Diego. Others in the cast include Brittany Daniel, Coby Bell, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Hosea Chanchez, and Barry Floyd.
Even before the show was cancelled by the CW, there was talk about the possibility of Black Entertainment Television (BET) picking up the show for a fourth year. The cable-channel has been playing the sitcom repeats and the show fits in with their other programming.
In July, Mowry told TV Guide, “[BET chairman and CEO] Debra Lee is trying everything and anything to make this happen. The Game gets higher ratings than BET’s original programming, and we’ve heard there would be a huge marketing campaign. So I personally believe the show would be taken to another level.”

Unfortunately, there’s been little word of any real progress since then. Last week, rumors started circulating that a deal had been struck between BET and the show’s studio, CBS Television. Unfortunately, they turned out to be false.
Last night, Mowry put the rumors to rest. Via her Twitter account, she wrote, “I am so sorry to tell you this, this whole THE GAME thing getting picked up is NOT true! After talking to agents lawyers etc it is not true.” A deal may still happen but, for the moment, there isn’t one.
When or if a new deal is made, it remains to be seen how it would work. The contracts for the cast and creatives have lapsed so new ones would have to be negotiated. Because BET has less money to spend, they’d likely have to take pay cuts.
On top of that, some of those involved with the show have also moved on to other projects and may not be available. Hall is working on CBS’ new sitcom Accidentally on Purpose, Mowry has several projects in the works, and Akil is part of ABC’s new Cougar Town comedy with Courteney Cox Arquette.

I think that something should be worked out. I have my whole family watching the show even my boyfriend we all love it. I think if the cast love it as much as the fan then something should be worked out with only the same cast noone different. So please come back please!!!!
The Game is the best show ever, I would love to see Melanie finish school be come a successful doctor may be find out that Janey kid is not for Derwin change the baby name and they have a child of their own then she can be the FIRST of every thing in his life he also start back playing football and their story go on from there,Kelly & Jason get back together , Tasha get into the music industry be come a big time music producer & finely get her man ,and as for Malike & TeeTee just let… Read more »
OH COME ON…. I REALLY LOVE THIS SHOW ITS MY FAVORITE BUT IDK IF IT WOULD BE THE SAME…. IF ANY THING THEY SHOULD ADD TO THE SHOW AND MAKE IT BETTER TAKING THE ORIGNAL CHARACTERS OUT WOULD BE SAD BUT I GUESS IF IT WAS AS GOOD AS THE FIRST THREE SEASONS IT WOULD BE OK
BET is making a huge mistake If they do not pick this show up and run with it. However we need all the key players! Come on BET give us a reason to tune in to your network every week.
I’ve finally found a great show that I will drop anything to watch and then they go and cancel it! This is unethical, I know the ratings for the reruns are HIGH, because I know I watch them over and over and over again. I think we all should continue to push this because it’s a great show, BUT it must come back with all the same characters.
Please bring this show back. I really enjoy watching it…. and the nerve of CW …this was the best show that they’ve had!!

The Game is my all time favorite show. I now have my entire family watching this show. It is the talk in the breakroom at work. There have to be a fourth seasson!!! I along with others can relate to the show. Everyone has a Tasha, Melanie, Derwin, Malik, Jason, TeeTee, and Kelly in their family or surrounding. I watch The Game every day retake and all. Come on BET PLEASE make it happen!!!!!

I found this show to be interesting in various aspects. The biracial couple, tough love shown between a mom and son, two people who love each other very much but had to over come so many obstacles to be together. In addition to the above story lines, other story lines that could be introduced are life on the football field, i.e. coach and player issues, player to player issues; continue Malik and sister (Poochie) issues; Tasha finally get’s married then divorced and I could go on. OMG please let them get this show back going. I haven’t seen a show this good and entertaining in a long time. Yesterday I saw the episode when Jason is leaving the courtroom and him and Cammiel kiss and Kelly looked like her soul died. BET bring the show back you guys arent playing anything but a bunch of bull crap on the air anyways

Is this for real i was waiting for the show to come on all this time, my friend had told me he heard it was cut but i couldnt believe it……The game is like such an awesome show i dont know how they can cut it…… we need a season four and with all the same characters…..come on BET pick up the show i need a season four soon my hopes are like so high!!!!!
