Last May, fans of The CW’s sitcom, The Game, were upset to learn that the sitcom had been cancelled after three seasons on the air. Though there was some resolution in the last episode, it was hardly satisfying enough for devoted viewers. The web has recently been abuzz with news that the show is coming back but can you believe it?
Created by Mara Brock Akil, The Game began as a spin-off of the long-running comedy, Girlfriends. The series centers around a first year medical student (Tia Mowry) who chooses to follow her pro-football boyfriend (Pooch Hall) to San Diego. Others in the cast include Brittany Daniel, Coby Bell, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Hosea Chanchez, and Barry Floyd.
Even before the show was cancelled by the CW, there was talk about the possibility of Black Entertainment Television (BET) picking up the show for a fourth year. The cable-channel has been playing the sitcom repeats and the show fits in with their other programming.
In July, Mowry told TV Guide, “[BET chairman and CEO] Debra Lee is trying everything and anything to make this happen. The Game gets higher ratings than BET’s original programming, and we’ve heard there would be a huge marketing campaign. So I personally believe the show would be taken to another level.”

Unfortunately, there’s been little word of any real progress since then. Last week, rumors started circulating that a deal had been struck between BET and the show’s studio, CBS Television. Unfortunately, they turned out to be false.
Last night, Mowry put the rumors to rest. Via her Twitter account, she wrote, “I am so sorry to tell you this, this whole THE GAME thing getting picked up is NOT true! After talking to agents lawyers etc it is not true.” A deal may still happen but, for the moment, there isn’t one.
When or if a new deal is made, it remains to be seen how it would work. The contracts for the cast and creatives have lapsed so new ones would have to be negotiated. Because BET has less money to spend, they’d likely have to take pay cuts.
On top of that, some of those involved with the show have also moved on to other projects and may not be available. Hall is working on CBS’ new sitcom Accidentally on Purpose, Mowry has several projects in the works, and Akil is part of ABC’s new Cougar Town comedy with Courteney Cox Arquette.

ok guys everyone to work is waiting, everyone at college is waiting, and everyone in my circle is dying for a new season the kids love the show theme song we all are waiting make it happen the ratings are up with the re-runs judge the new season.
No I do not believe the show will work out if they change the original cast members. The cast is what made the show what it is and are the main reason me and other fans watch the show.
The Game cast members is what made the show how it is, however, if some actors/actresses have to be changed I will more than likely still look at the show because of its message. Dont get it confused I will love for all the original members to come back but if it is impossible I will just deal with the Game being back on tv again
The Game is one of my favorite show, I mean, it is my #1 favorite television show! I wa watching it back when it was playing on that UPN channel at like 3am; I really don’t want to see The Game go off air completely, I still want to know what happens next. I believe that it will be worth to watch even with the budget cuts, I’m still watching re-runs like they’re brand new shows and still laugh and cry at the same scenes- it’s just entertaining no matter how many times you look at the shows.

i think the game shuolfd totally come back it was one of the best and most talked about show from everyone i know i love the game and was shocked to hear that it was casncelled i was waiting on the next season. lol it is a huge insperation to many younger veiwers and i know that it would be greatly apperciated if it cam back on any station so if it’s a net work out there looking for a response from viewers PICK UP THE SHOW THE GAME…….
Every program that I ever loved seems to go away. It started with” A Different world ” then Will&Grace and Absolutely Fabulous and of course Girlfriends. This show crossed color boundries and appealed to both black and white and I would even go so far as to say that some men enjoyed it. My boyfriend would never admit it but he got caught up in a episode or two. Love it so much, I don’t mind reruns.

I loved the game and was very sad to see it go off the air. It is hard to say if it would be worth watching. I would have to see the chemistry of the new cast mixed with the old. I think it worth making a couple episodes.
I LOVE HE GAME BUT SORRY TO SAY IT WOLDN’T BE WORTH BRINGING BACK IF IT’LL BE A DIFFERENT CAST. WE’RE ALL SO USE TO THE REG. THEY ALL PLAY THE PARTS SO WELL. SO I PERSONALLY WOULD NOT BE SATISFIED ALL. I LOVE THE ORGINIAL CAST AND THEYLL NEBER BE NOTHING LIKE THEM!!!!!
The Game is my “stories”. I’m 24 and I love it. My dvr is full of only The Game. I cry lauph, and I know it is just a t.v. show to some but to me it’s a great fact based, real life story. I have been looking for it on dvd everywhere. The Game needs to come back! I was so happy to see Mel and Derwin get married I’ve been praying for it. I noticed that as soon as CW got alot of black viewers watching the station to get there ratings up the cancel the black shows . Fox did the same thing. We should not watch these stations!
The Game is the best comedy ever, so please bring it back. If you brought The Game back it would get a lot of viewers.

They should definatly bring it back this show means so much to me and its helped me in my personal life with struggles that no one could understand. This show means everything to me and by taking it away , i honestly don’t know how i could handle myself because this show means THE WORLD TO ME!

That is my all time fave show and they should so totally bring it back! The cast should try to make it work! Their ratings would go up and money would be made! I saw try to make if work!
