Last May, fans of The CW’s sitcom, The Game, were upset to learn that the sitcom had been cancelled after three seasons on the air. Though there was some resolution in the last episode, it was hardly satisfying enough for devoted viewers. The web has recently been abuzz with news that the show is coming back but can you believe it?
Created by Mara Brock Akil, The Game began as a spin-off of the long-running comedy, Girlfriends. The series centers around a first year medical student (Tia Mowry) who chooses to follow her pro-football boyfriend (Pooch Hall) to San Diego. Others in the cast include Brittany Daniel, Coby Bell, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Hosea Chanchez, and Barry Floyd.
Even before the show was cancelled by the CW, there was talk about the possibility of Black Entertainment Television (BET) picking up the show for a fourth year. The cable-channel has been playing the sitcom repeats and the show fits in with their other programming.
In July, Mowry told TV Guide, “[BET chairman and CEO] Debra Lee is trying everything and anything to make this happen. The Game gets higher ratings than BET’s original programming, and we’ve heard there would be a huge marketing campaign. So I personally believe the show would be taken to another level.”

Unfortunately, there’s been little word of any real progress since then. Last week, rumors started circulating that a deal had been struck between BET and the show’s studio, CBS Television. Unfortunately, they turned out to be false.
Last night, Mowry put the rumors to rest. Via her Twitter account, she wrote, “I am so sorry to tell you this, this whole THE GAME thing getting picked up is NOT true! After talking to agents lawyers etc it is not true.” A deal may still happen but, for the moment, there isn’t one.
When or if a new deal is made, it remains to be seen how it would work. The contracts for the cast and creatives have lapsed so new ones would have to be negotiated. Because BET has less money to spend, they’d likely have to take pay cuts.
On top of that, some of those involved with the show have also moved on to other projects and may not be available. Hall is working on CBS’ new sitcom Accidentally on Purpose, Mowry has several projects in the works, and Akil is part of ABC’s new Cougar Town comedy with Courteney Cox Arquette.

s of this show four times everyday, and would watch it more if I could. I’m constaantly waiting gfor the marathon segments to come on , to watch each episode from the beginning to the end. Please try to bring this show back.

The game is my favorite show. I relate to this show in so many ways!! I have been waiting for the new season for a long time now i really want to know what happened with Kelly and Jasson and Melanie and Derwin. I feel like i know them personally thats how into the show i am!! I would really appreciate if they brought the game back! The whole cast is excellent and they make the show so believable
Please bring “The Game” back….It is really a very, very good show. The actors on there are excellent and they work well together. It would be a hit if some station pick it up…I’m praying Tasha Mac for the show!!! LOVE IT !!!!!

love the show. I hope it comes back for a 4th season. The CW fu*ked up, I don’t even tune iNto that station anymore. I wouldn’t care if there are pay cuts, I will still tune in every week to watch. I just don’t want “Jason Pitts” or Hosea Chanchez to be replaced. They are favorite characters. Although when I watched the very 1st episode, I wasn’t too impressed with the 1st Kelly. I think she was only on the 1st episode, I like Brittany Daniel a lot better as Kelly. PLEASE someone pick up the show!

to tell the truth ii dnt really give a f*ck about budget cuts as long as it isn’t noticealble even if so i dnt care ii love the GAME, it’s the best show out there (to me). I hope it comes back on. Please save it.
Yes YoYo, Derwin and Melanie did marry and Jason left the courthouse with Camille leaving Kelly hanging. Derwin and Melanie wedding was at Tasha’s house, Tasha Confessed to Kelly that she introduced Jason and Camille beings that she thought Kelly betrayed her friendship when she continued to work for Erv after he fired her. Kelly punched Tasha and knocked her out. Rick Fox showed up to reclaim the woman he love, Tasha, during/after the ceremony. I love that episode like I love the all.

awww im so sad to hear that the show has been canceled. Ive been waiting for the new episodes. I didnt even get to see the final episode. does anyone know what happend between melanie and derwin? or jason and kelly?

please bring back the game it is the only show i can watch for hours and the re- runs it really makes life worth looking at t.v . I love this show after a hard day all I want to do is relax laugh or chat to my freinds about whats going on with the sitcom. It is the best thus far for any t.v show I ever seen even better than gossip girl and 90210 put together please bring back the game. I love all of the characters
