Though ABC didn’t have much luck with their Eastwick drama, the network is trying another kind of supernatural series, The Gates, for the summer months. Will this one make it to season two?
The Gates revolves around a big city cop who moves his family to a quiet gated community where many of the residents aren’t exactly what they appear to be. The ensemble cast includes Rhona Mitra, Colton Haynes, Frank Grillo, Janina Gavankar, Chandra West, Luke Mably, James Preston, Marisol Nichols, Skyler Samuels, Travis Caldwell, Victoria Platt, and Justin Miles.
The series debuted on Sunday, June 20th, to an unimpressive 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and just 4.78 million viewers. Considering all of the network’s promotion, this was a disappointing start. The premiere ranked first in the demo and second in total viewers for the timeslot.

In week two, viewership for The Gates dropped by about 30%. The demo fell to a 1.1 rating and total viewership came down to only 3.24 million. That put the show in second place in the demo and in third place for viewers.
Though ABC has lower expectations for this summer show, the ratings do not bode well for the show’s future on the network. Unless more people start watching, it’s hard to imagine that we’ll be seeing season two.
For now, let’s hope they show all 13 episodes of season one. The Gates is expected to run until September 19th but, with ratings like these, it’s not hard to imagine the network replacing them with something else.
What do you think? Is The Gates worth watching or would you just cancel it already? (Want to know how Scoundrels is doing? Go here.)

I’ve notice we have more seasons,& they are getting fewer episodes per seasons for Series shows. This practice doesn’t make since. Its almost like they want to kill a show before they give it a chance. We use to wait for a new season to begin in the fall. Now the Networks will throw on many more new shows in January, April and June. Perhaps this is just a diversion, to keep us, the viewers confused. Perhaps they think maybe we want noticed, that most of the show we watched” last season”, want be coming back. I wonder if“ NETWORKS” could… Read more »
I want Gates go on
I am really disappointed that the Gates will not return . I hope there is a slim chance that some other network would pick it up . I really miss that show. I couldn’t wait till Sunday to watch the next episode. PLEASE BRING IT BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The wife and I are very busy people juggling 3 kids, work, and school. We don’t get to spend much time together, but 0ne of the things we do enjoy doing together is watching The Gates. We both love the show and all the charecters. We also love all the different twists the show kept taking. We love The Gates. Bring it back. We got left hanging on a cliff waiting for season two to start only to hear the show was being cancelled. Bring The Gates Back, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s really so stupid to cancel such a good tvseries! I was getting excited because I tought season2 was soon be on air! It’s sucks bad!! I’m sick of that , in the past years ,to much shows were cancelled with cliffhanger at the end of season 1 ! At least , the producer should make an ending episode for fans who loved those shows!! I’m frustrated and sad!
Keep It *******!
Nossa eu amei a serie nao acredito que vão cancelar
I love the show. I watch everything that has vampires and werewolves. And the Gates was a very good show.
“”Correction Woof Creek was suppost to be Wolf Lake””
Aired 2001 summery from Netflix: In this chilling TV series, Seattle cop John Kanin (Lou Diamond Phillips) is searching for his missing fiancée. It’s a mission that takes him to her hometown of Wolf Lake where something is clearly amiss: The residents appear to be werewolves. Worse, his girlfriend may actually share their terrible curse. As Kanin learns more about the supernatural creatures, the wolves try to convince him to give up his hunt.
I started watching The Gates on TV but as with most time constrainting activities I stopped following the weekly showings. It is really difficult to catch the specific time and day; expecially when networks will bump shows for other programs and randomly show reruns. (Ehm WB for Supernatural I’ve totally given up on you guys, even though I looove that show.) I finished The Gates on Netflix as I do with most of my tv programs; I rent them after the season is done and watch them back to back! The Gates has promise but of course isn’t anything new.… Read more »

Love the show it must come. Back. To tv
Keep it. I think it is very good. But then I like most shows like this one.
I LOVE the gates. I am a HUGE fan. Season one was great. Very interesting. The gates left too many unanswered questions and season 1 ended on a climax. Would be very disappointing if there wasn’t a season 2. I love all the characters and the plots are great. Please keep the Gates.
I really liked the season 1 of the Gates. I would be happy if the season 2 will be acted beacause the episode 13 of the season 1 did not end well.
Networks or becoming cancel crazy. Perhaps Networks make more money off the SPONSORS by airing so many new shows. Networks are airing lots of new shows, about ever 4 months. and being canceled shortly after. Then they repeating this process Perhaps to keep us confused. A diversion, hoping we want notice most of the show want be coming back. Then giving us some bs about Neilsen rating. I found they are not discriminate on which type of show I’m watching, rather it to be Sitcoms, Drama or Fiction, The show I’m watching, is in crisis or its, r already gone. I… Read more »
