As expected, ABC has cancelled The Gates after one season on the air. The ratings certainly didn’t dictate a second season and a couple weeks ago, series star Frank Grillo said that he’d heard unofficially that the show wouldn’t be back.
Though even actress Lindsay Lohan wanted to see it return, it’s now been confirmed that The Gates has indeed been cancelled. Some of the people connected with the show have tweeted about the series’ passing.
From the show’s Twitter feed comes, “We would like to thank our followers for sticking with us through this great journey.”
Gates creator Richard Hatem wrote simply, “Thanks to everyone who loved it. DVD set to be released…someday?”
Consulting producer and writer Robert Hewitt Wolfe tweeted, “Thank you to #TheGates fans, crew & cast for a great run. It was a blast. Seriously some of the best fans ever.” He later posted, “4 sale, lux devlpmnt/incrprtd town w/ upscale owners, prvt police/fire, exclnt school, occasional mysterious death”
Colton L Haynes wrote, “Was a great/fun experience and thk u all for coming along for the ride!. He followed that up with, “THE GATES cast and crew: thk u all for the good times! Learned alot and had a great summer with u all! Cheers to the future!” and posted this photo with #ripBrettCreski. Wolfe responded, “Sob… Too young!”
James Preston looks forward to the future, tweeting, “No worries gates fans follow us on to our new exciting roles!” Travis Caldwell echoed that sentiment, saying, “its all good more to come from all of us !!!”
Justin Miles wrote, “We gave em a hell of a run, though…” Janina Gavankar feels similarly, saying, “Sad. But we’re incredibly proud of what we made.”
Young McKaley Miller tweeted, “thank you guys for all the support!! seriously, y’all are awesome!! #TheGates is officially over, but it was such a great experience!! TY :)”
Andrea Powell wrote, “Thanks for all the love, fans of #TheGates. We’ll miss you! :-*”
Rachel Dipillo wrote, “We had a fun ride on The Gates. Love everyone I worked with and can’t wait to see what you do next! #RIPLEXIEWADE”
Grillo tweeted, “Thanks to all of you for supporting us. It made the whole thing worth it. Lots more fun stuff coming.” Grillo also said that he’d share what would have happened in the second season. After son Charlie is saved, Nick and his family would have stayed in the Gates community. The Radcliffs decide to take a break from one another. Leigh becomes the head of the police and Nick takes over the Gates board and oversees the community.

I saw my friend played this on his computer and I got hooked, for quite some time I was hoping that I would get to see the second season but now…….this is really sad. Like one onf the commentator said….it just need a good advertising, sry if that sound a little harsh, anyway would’ve liked to see season 2.
My boyfriend & I LOVED The Gates…we never missed a show. PLEASE bring it back…it is sooo much better than The Vampire Diaries…and it’s geared to us older guys which we loved…not so many teenagers….Please bring back the series……..I have liked vampire/werewolf stories since I was a little girl…love The Gates…real yet scary at the same time…won’t you guys bring it back at perhaps a new time & day???????????
So I’m extremely bummed that this was cancelled! One of my favorite shows and I feel like it barely got a chance! I Think everyone who wants this back should write in to ABC.com and tell them how badly we want it back! Thats what I’m doing(:
I hate to see the show be taken off the air. I was really getting into the show and now its gone. R.I.P. Gates. Ill be buying the season when it comes out…
I downloaded the whole season from iTunes, and loved it! I was anxiously awaiting what the next season would bring. I am sorry to hear it’s been cancelled.

The Gates was the only show I watched faithfully weeke after week during season one… And checked on the upcoming season regulary. DEFINETLY a huge disappointment it got cancelled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s really disappointing for good shows to get cancelled. As posted before, maybe a different time slot would have been better than not bring the show back for a second season. The story line was excellent and better than all the other crappy vampire shows that are being run now. Big mistake…..sell me the rights and I’ll shop it around to other networks.
I’m disappointed as well…here, it was aired right after True Blood on HBO and that wasn’t great. Like someone said before, they should have aired it at a different time, not to forget, day as well. Vampire Diaries were aired on Thursdays here. I’ve loved to see The Gates come back for a second season…being curious about the aftermath of the first season.
LOVE THIS SHOW!! Been waiting for months for it to come back with another season!

The Gates had talented actors and interesting characters and should of been given a longer run. The time slot was bad and just needed more exposure. The most popular shows of the 1960s were slow starters ratings wise and studio heads stuck with the shows and soon they caught on and became one of the biggest series in television history. Shows aren’t even given a chance these days. Poor decision making as usual.
The Gates, was a great show and it hurt to hear that it was cancel..
I am dissapionted, i am in Australia and just heard about the show the other day, have not yet been able to see the show, it is currently aired on Fox tell, here, but a lot of people including myself do not have foxtell, I think if the show was given more advertising it would of been a very popular show, like the Vampire Diaries and Buffy the Vampire slayer and Angel was here, very popular. There are still a lot ofn people who like these show’s.
Its so unfair am sadden by this info.

Disapppointed to see the show cancelled. It was getting really good. Maybe you should have aired it at a different time. So many show’s can be conflicting sometimes. I would love to see it back.
