TV show description:
A TV show adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel, The Handmaid’s Tale TV show tells the story of life under the totalitarian regime governing Gilead, which was formerly part of the U.S.
With the birthrate plummeting, thanks to the environment’s catastrophic state, the fundamentalist government of Gilead treats women as its chattel. As part of the still-fertile minority, Offred (Moss) serves as a Handmaid in Commander Fred Waterford’s (Fiennes) home.
To be a Handmaid in Gilead is to live a life of sexual slavery, in the government’s last-ditch effort to rebuild the population. Offred’s position is precarious. Anything she says or does could be used as an excuse to kill her.
Although all Offred wants to do is find her daughter Hannah (Blake), she must carefully deal with Commanders, their wives, and the other Handmaids, as well as the Marthas — the term for domestic servants in Gilead. Is there anyone she can trust?

What do you think? Do you like The Handmaid’s Tale TV show? Should it be ending or renewed for a seventh season on Hulu?
Hopefully a season 4 is in the works!
Amazingly brilliant and binge worthy. I hadn’t even thought much about the show previous to Season1 but had a reprieve from something else I had been watching so I decided to give it a go.
I was not disappointed and hooked by the second episode.
The only negative comment I can think to make here, is well, the gaps between seasons are extraordinary long in my opinion. I guess that does leave one craving for more though.
I read Ms. Atwood’s book when it came out. The TV show has devolved into torture porn and the story should be wrapped and buried.
Holy smokes this show is riveting. I was hooked at 20 minutes into the first episode. So well written and acted, and the story is amazing. I hope there are many more seasons of this show.
Love the show…it has not aired for two weeks now, what happened?
Epic show – best show ever! The acting in this dystopia is incredible. Love it.
This is one of the best series streaming. Please do not cancel. Make more! Its a good story and good example of what csn happen if we get to complacent
Season 2 is even better than Season 1. Through the flashbacks we get to see how Gilead came to be and it certainly is a timely warning to us. We know from the novel what eventually happens to Gilead but the writers have given us quite a journey so far. Great character development. I believe this series has been renewed for a Season 3.
I love this series!!!!
I love this show. Can’t wait for next episodes!
I “invested” 6 or 7 hours in this show – but no more. Too many scenes/elements with no logic – mainly due to no explanation or context (or did I blink?). How did the Gilead Govt assume power (some sort of insurrection)? What IS Gilead? Synopsis above says “part” of the U.S.” – how do we know? Which part ? What about the rest of the U.S.? How did Canada, Mexico (and the rest of the U.S.) avoid the Gilead path? Gilead may be a Police State – but it can’t seem to defend its borders ….. The Mexican female… Read more »
Read ELAINES comment. . She articulated the premise of the show very nicely!
It’s taking too long for season 2!!!
This show has completely drawn me in. Totally captivating in spite of its bleak subject matter. Awesome acting. Elisabeth Moss is outstanding. I can’t wait until Season 2 begins!
Season 2 focuses on the individual characters and gives an even bleaker picture of this society and how it came to be. This season also points out the underlying hypocrisy of the leaders and the belief system that they have imposed on the citizens. However bleak the picture of Gilead is, we also get some rays of hope in that we see in some people such as Aunt a spark of humanity remains. We also get to see that not everyone has completely surrendered to the regime. But the message that we cannot sit back and let things happen is… Read more »
I love this show
This is a “must see” miniseries. It is a chilling description of a totalitarian society and serves as a cautionary tale. Elisabeth Moss is ideally cast as Offred and we see her doing what she must to survive. Yvonne Strahovski, as the Commander’s wife, by the flick of a hand or the tone of voice gives us insight into the lack of humanity in this so-called Christian society. The cast draw us into this world and when the episode ends we are relieved. While in some ways this series paints a bleak picture it also inspires us to not sit… Read more »
