Oprah Winfrey’s favorite interior designer, Nate Berkus, will soon be available for other projects. His daytime talk series, The Nate Berkus Show, has been cancelled after two seasons on the air.
The decorating series — often referred to as The Nate Show — debuted September 13, 2010 in syndication. Despite having a loyal following, the Berkus show didn’t catch on with a big enough audience. It’s been averaging about 1.4 million viewers this season. New episodes will continue to be produced and air until the end of this season but there won’t be a third.
In a join statement, Sony Pictures Television and Harpo Studios said, “After careful consideration, we have decided that The Nate Berkus Show will not return for a third season in the fall… We are grateful for the hard work and heart that Nate, [executive producer] Corin Nelson and their entire team have poured into the show, and we’re very proud of what they’ve delivered.”
Berkus said, “I’m incredibly proud of my hard working and talented staff, and proud of the show we were able to produce every day.”
The cancellation doesn’t come as a big surprise, especially given the ratings and the show’s expense. The peacock network initially signed a three year deal with Sony for the Berkus Show but recently made deals for new daytime talk shows from Steve Harvey and Jeff Probst. Given the limited number of daytime time slots, that move didn’t seem to leave any room for The Nate Berkus Show.
In some markets, Berkus filled the timeslot left vacant by The Bonnie Hunt Show, a program that was also dropped after two seasons in 2010.
What do you think? Will you miss Nate Berkus’ program? Should it continue on Winfrey’s OWN network?

I cannot believe The Nate Berkus Show is canceled. It was my favorite show. I really hope OWN picks it up.
This is one of the only shows I would watch in the mornings. Yes I think Oprah SHOULD pick the show up on her station. You get a good show and now its off the aire.( what’s wrong with you people). Nate is so talented and is a asset to the viewers. We’ll miss you Nate.
Nate Is Great!
The Nate Berkus Show is so original and Nate is such a wonderful host, who interacts so well with all his different guests. I learned so much from the show-but Nate is what made it shine! They always cancel the good ones!
Sorry to hear that but it doesn’t surprise me. A few of us had showed up for a taping of the show and we were turned away because they overbooked the show. I understand overbookings can happen but it is how you treat those whom were turned away s really what matters. The person outside really didn’t seem to care how far someone traveled or what anything for that matter. More compassion would have been nice. As Oprah stated, ” my fans came to see me and no master how I felt I went on stage o they wouldn’t be… Read more »
How sad! No one asked me if I was watching. Would love to know where the “so called ratings” come from. This show is a breath of fresh air. So tired of yet another talk show with a celebrity that has no business having one that is supposed to replace Nate’s show. You will be missed Nate. I sure hope cable is smart enough to pick you up. Shame on Sony and shame on Harpo Productions. I guess this wasn’t making Oprah enough money so it had to go!
OH NO! You can’t cancel Nate. He is my reason to get up in the morning. I get up at “quarter to Nate” every morning. I love his shows and will really miss him. I love his personality I hope another network takes him on soon. I don’t care to watch the shows filling his time slot. What a sad Christmas. Patti Osterberg
I recently celebrated my 60th birthday and my family gave me an airline ticket to New York for me to attend a taping of the the show. Because I was recuperating from back surgery, I had to postpone the trip until after the first of the year. I guess now I won’t get to see him. Hopefully the show will get picked up by another network. I look forward to my daily “date with Nate” that I DVR each day.
Judy Allen » The show is going to remain in production until the end of the season.
Thoroughly enjoyed this show. I will miss it.
Love Nate’s show. Hope another network picks him. Nate, God bless you and good luck.
This is the best show on TV and I try to watch it everyday. It teaches and saves you money all at the same time.
I hope I can buy a DVD of the show so I can watch it over and over.
I will miss some of his regulars like Mr. Goodwill Hunting. In this economy we need a show like this to help us live nicely on a strict budget.
I will miss this show!!

I am very sad to hear the news that this show will be cancelled. Nate Berkus has great ideas for decorating and I enjoyed his personality and his ideas so much. I taped every episode and enjoyed watching with my girls. He should go on the Oprah Winfrey Network for sure.
Very sad to see this show go off the air. It was my favorite. So much so that I traveled all the way to New York to attend a taping to see Nate in person. Very disappointed. His creativity and genuine personality was very inspiring.
I will miss this show very much! I tape it everyday. I was part of the audience on December 8,2011 and it was great! Will mis you NATE!!
This stinks. My wife and I watch Nate and my wife loves the ideas and Nate’s fresh approach. So much crap on TV and the good ones get cancelled. We are so excited to be part of the audience on 12/15 and see one of Nate’s final shows. Sure hope someone picks it up.
