Oprah Winfrey’s favorite interior designer, Nate Berkus, will soon be available for other projects. His daytime talk series, The Nate Berkus Show, has been cancelled after two seasons on the air.
The decorating series — often referred to as The Nate Show — debuted September 13, 2010 in syndication. Despite having a loyal following, the Berkus show didn’t catch on with a big enough audience. It’s been averaging about 1.4 million viewers this season. New episodes will continue to be produced and air until the end of this season but there won’t be a third.
In a join statement, Sony Pictures Television and Harpo Studios said, “After careful consideration, we have decided that The Nate Berkus Show will not return for a third season in the fall… We are grateful for the hard work and heart that Nate, [executive producer] Corin Nelson and their entire team have poured into the show, and we’re very proud of what they’ve delivered.”
Berkus said, “I’m incredibly proud of my hard working and talented staff, and proud of the show we were able to produce every day.”
The cancellation doesn’t come as a big surprise, especially given the ratings and the show’s expense. The peacock network initially signed a three year deal with Sony for the Berkus Show but recently made deals for new daytime talk shows from Steve Harvey and Jeff Probst. Given the limited number of daytime time slots, that move didn’t seem to leave any room for The Nate Berkus Show.
In some markets, Berkus filled the timeslot left vacant by The Bonnie Hunt Show, a program that was also dropped after two seasons in 2010.
What do you think? Will you miss Nate Berkus’ program? Should it continue on Winfrey’s OWN network?

I am overwhelmed with sadness to learn that Nate’s show will not be returning. He is one of the most creative and talented designers on this planet in addition to a sincerely wonderful person. His show was very entertaining and very inspirational and literally pulled me out of depression. It encouraged me to not give up after losing my job, and to pursue my dreams of becoming a professional organizer after being in an unfulfilling career for 22 years. Most importantly, he and the show simply brought a smile to my face every day, even it was just for an… Read more »
What a disappointment! I’m always stunned by what shows stay and what shows go.
This show is a keeper. Hope OWN picks it up!
I enjoy this show everyday. There are so many garbage shows on during the day that this is an escape from them. I will miss this show and will probably not watch much TV during the day anymore. What a big mistake you have made cancelling this show. I’m very dissappointed.
I definitely think they should bring back The Bonnie Hunt Show. It was terrific.
I can’t believe this……FINALLY A SHOW I STOP EVERYTHING TO WATCH….have gotten so many ideas and recipes……HATE TALK SHOWS, COURT SHOWS, REALITY SHOWS…….PUT NATE BACK ON!!!!!!!!!
I am so sad to see this show go off the air. I taped it every day so that I could watch it in the evening. I really enjoyed the show, and I loved how he gave away numerous items. I will not be tuning in to watch Racheal Ray! I liked Nate Berkus much better!!!
Please save this show! It’s host is intelligent and self-deprecating. Also, it’s a fun, entertaining and great teaching show! Hope OWN picks it up!!
I am so sad to see this show go off the air. Nate is one of the best daytine pleasures of television. Please, Oprah, let this show continue on OWN!
I can not believe The Nate Berkus Show is being cancelled. I love this show. All of the design tips and tips from famous actors is exciting. Love the format. My friend and I were planning on going to N.Y. this spring to be on his show. This is just another reason why I won’t be watching WTAE. The show replacing his was never a favorite of mine.
Someone had mentioned that this TERRIFIC show was going to be cancelled. I thought it was a MISTAKE. Nate, have watched your show live and/or DVR’d it since your FIRST DAY airing. You are an incredibly genuine and creative designer. Maybe the “POWERS THAT BE” will reconsider as I and your other, many loyal viewers will miss you TERRIBLY!
OPRAH, put Nate on the OWN Network!!!!!!!
Sincerely,
Eileen
I am really sorry to see Nate going off the air. He is so creative. I am an artist and decorator which was planning on sending some of my work and ideas and tell him about an amazing open air sculpture and formal gardens near my home town very close to Champaign, Illinois. I wish him the best and hope someday to be able to share some ideas with him,
i agree with lauren. i watch or dvr nate everyday and live him. there’so much garbage on network tv. it’s such a shame and i will watch nate if he has a show on own.
This the only morning show I watch. What a mistake to take it away. The new “Chew” lacks substance. It is not something to watch on a regular basis. The “View” should just go away.
This was my favorite show! This is the only daytime show I enjoy. I am a dental hygienist and we have t.v.’s in every room. Lets just say my first two patients have no choice but to watch Nate. Why can’t you take one of those annoying court shows or jerry springer off the air? Ugh!
I always DVR Nate and watch it when I get home. I have learned so much useful information from it. It was refreshing to have a show that was dedicated to teaching about style, decorating and so much more. There is nothing else like it on TV.
Yes, please, please, OWN pick it up.
