Oprah Winfrey’s favorite interior designer, Nate Berkus, will soon be available for other projects. His daytime talk series, The Nate Berkus Show, has been cancelled after two seasons on the air.
The decorating series — often referred to as The Nate Show — debuted September 13, 2010 in syndication. Despite having a loyal following, the Berkus show didn’t catch on with a big enough audience. It’s been averaging about 1.4 million viewers this season. New episodes will continue to be produced and air until the end of this season but there won’t be a third.
In a join statement, Sony Pictures Television and Harpo Studios said, “After careful consideration, we have decided that The Nate Berkus Show will not return for a third season in the fall… We are grateful for the hard work and heart that Nate, [executive producer] Corin Nelson and their entire team have poured into the show, and we’re very proud of what they’ve delivered.”
Berkus said, “I’m incredibly proud of my hard working and talented staff, and proud of the show we were able to produce every day.”
The cancellation doesn’t come as a big surprise, especially given the ratings and the show’s expense. The peacock network initially signed a three year deal with Sony for the Berkus Show but recently made deals for new daytime talk shows from Steve Harvey and Jeff Probst. Given the limited number of daytime time slots, that move didn’t seem to leave any room for The Nate Berkus Show.
In some markets, Berkus filled the timeslot left vacant by The Bonnie Hunt Show, a program that was also dropped after two seasons in 2010.
What do you think? Will you miss Nate Berkus’ program? Should it continue on Winfrey’s OWN network?

We want Nate
I LOVED the Nate Berkus Show and am so sad to hear it has been canceled!! I would definitely watch on another network. What a waste of a talented and personable man!!
Very, very disappointed in the cancellation of The Nate Berkus Show. It was a super positive show. When I wasn’t home for it, I’d tape it, to watch later. How do we keep the negative plus show, The View, when there are so many good shows like Nate’s show. I also like The 10 Show, another very positive, happy program which has been shortened to only 30 mins. I hope Oprah will do something with all her LOOT to help Nate get on her network WITH his same show. Let’s get rid of shows like “The View”, which isn’t allowed… Read more »
I love the Nate Show! I even watch the reruns. Why do the TV Execs think we need more junk to watch? Please continue it on OWN.
PLEASE BRING BACK THE NATE BURKUS SHOW!!! I looked forward to watching this show daily and it has inspired me to bring design ideas into my own home! Love Nate! Such a fun and creative show! REally miss it!

This is the only show that I tape
everyday. Nate is amazing and his show is fun with useable information. My Mom watches, my daughter watches, we all watch the Nate Show. He has broad appeal and is so charismatic! Say it ain’t so, don’t go Nate!
One of the BEST people shows ever! Nate’s enthusiasm to show us how to have our
homes rise up to greet us, how to dress fashionably for so much less, how to refurbish furniture from flea markets, thrift stores, curbside and make them one-of-a-kind to fit our styles, showcasing recipes, how to entertain beautifully on a budget. . . I could go on and on! Nate Berkus is a REAL person who wants everyone to have the BEST Life possible. It makes me sad to learn his show has been cancelled; he will definitely be missed by many faithful viewers!
I have watched live (or sometimes dvr’d, then watched) every episode of “Nate” since the beginning. Since most of my friends also watch Nate, it’s hard for me to believe there was not a large enough audience to support the show. I have learned so much about affordable home design, cooking and entertaining ideas, even fashion ideas, I can’t imagine losing this creative resource. Please Oprah, help us all out!
The cancellation of Nate’s Show says that entertaining educational television doesn’t sell. How sad that ratings don’t follow quality daytime television.
I am shocked about NATE’s show being cancelled. No one knew it was even on! He received inadequate advertising for starters. And, from research, was moved into many different time slots (am to afternoon). His show was refreshing and uplifting. I always felt more positive and energetic after spending an hour with Nate! My impression was very different with regards to Nate and his audience. I observed lots of emotion and connection between host/audience. His format was perfect! He offerred great variety and advice from experts. I BELIEVE HIS SHOW DID NOT RECEIVE THE PRESS NECESSARY TO GAIN THE AUDIENCE… Read more »
I feel your pain lady, I really feel your pain. 🙁
I’ve been looking for Nate to no avail. Sooo sad. His show was really very infformative and achievable. Not out of reach for most of the audience. Content was divercified & held ones interest. Oprah please put Nate on OWN
THE FACT THAT THE NATE BERKUS SHOW HAS BEEN CANCELED IS TOTALLY UNREAL TO ME. NATE’S SHOW HAS BEEN SO INSPIRATIONAL TO ME AND SO MANY OTHERS. HIS HEART AND EXPERTISE HAVE BEEN APPARENT IN EACH EPISODE. PERHAPS THE FACT THAT THE TIME SLOT OF THE SHOW’S AIRING MOVING FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER IS PART OF THE REASON FOR THE LOWER RATINGS. WHEN NATE FIRST SHOWED UP IN THE PITTSBURGH AREA IT WAS ON AFTER ONE PM RECENTLY MOVING TO TEN AM AND NOW BACK TO AFTER ONE AM, AND STILL TO BE APPEARING EVEN LATER (OR SHOULD I… Read more »
I cannot believe Nate’s Show has been cancelled! I have watched him every day since the beginning. Finally an informative show with a great host. Pleas put him on the OWN. With all the realty junk this show is a keeper!
I am so disappointed! I watch Nate every day and I will really miss his show. It is so informative and I have used his ideas in every room of my home. Please move him to OWN so I can continue to watch. Also, I would like to find out if his previous shows will be available on DVD. Thanks, Gayle
