NBC hasn’t had much luck airing original dramas over the summer months. Will The Night Shift be a different ratings story? Will it be renewed for a second season or, will it be cancelled instead? Stay tuned to find out.
The Night Shift revolves around the quirky but devoted staffmembers of San Antonio Memorial Hospital who work from dusk til dawn. The cast of the medical drama includes Eoin Macken, Jill Flint, Ken Leung, Brendan Fehr, Daniella Alonso, Robert Bailey Jr., Jeananne Goossen. J.R. Lemon, and Freddy Rodriguez.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
7/1 update: NBC has renewed Night Shift for a second season.
Final season averages: 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.59 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like The Night Shift TV show? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I love the show its like er better I think please don’t take the show off let it see ehere it goes thanks for letting us post …..
I love this show NBC needs a good medical drama like this, keep it coming! There hasn’t been a good one like this since ER!!!!
same old tired script. May appeal to the 13 to 25 year olds. It is so chopped up with emergencies that it is annoying.
Love it. Please come back
I hope to see more of “Night Shift”, primarily because the show improved with each episode. The hospital administrator, initially a stereotyped, plastic character, became more humane and human. The star doc toned down his craziness and, in doing so, morphed into a more believable character (I don’t care how great he is as a doctor, no hospital would keep someone who acted as he did in almost every scene). In essence, all of the characters toned down and became more believable. Give it a a chance to embrace medical correctness and improved stories.
Love this show. I look forward to it every week.
Absolutely love this show!! 8 episodes is definitely not enough. It got better with episode and had me on the edge of my seat. Thank you for renewing it another season. I hope to see it in the fall for a full season instead of a summer filler.
This is possibly the worst show that ever aired on television. It is filled with errors on both the medical and military side and is a steaming pile of poo! Please cancel this abortion of a drama series!! Play Kardiashian reruns anything but this tragic hot mess!!
Sorry, but if you think this is the worst show ever you obviously have never seen Bigot Dynasty (Duck Dynasty), Parks And Recreation, Community, Happy Endings, The Mindy Project or The Office.
Seriously you are the biggest troll to actually use the word abortion in describing a show.
You can’t cancel this great series. It has gotten better with each episode.
Like it. It’s getting better. Good quirky cast. Acting n direction needs some work. Actors seem or natural now. Writing is good. Directing needs some help. Hope it stays around for another season.
Love the show. The episode that aired on 07/08/14 was incredible & left me in tears. You have got to re-new this show. And not as a summer fill in. The more you show the better it gets.
The Night Shift shouldn’t be canceled. I’m a teen and 100% in love with this show. My mother is an RN at our local hospital and it’s so fun to watch the show with her. She relates to the show tremendously and I find it amusing. The show is inspiring. It’s always exciting to sit down and watch it as a family. It only makes me more & more hyped for my future career.
NBC renewed for Season 2
I love the show. I record it and watch it when I can. The summer & a holiday are certain to interfere in the ratings! I hope this show makes it. It’s one of the few quality shows out there!
I like the show – keep it coming
We totally agree with everything that k820 said. We thought we had found a new show also. We are sick and tired of having the gay lifestyle shoved in our face on almost every show anymore. I’m sure it would be a whole other story if it were for instance portraying Christians on every show.
I don’t like having the “Christian” lifestyle shoved in my face on ever single website.
