The Office is branching out. Recently, series star and creator Ricky Gervais shared a new first look at his upcoming movie follow-up to the popular UK series.
Along with Stephen Merchant, Gervais created The Office in 2001.
The Office continued on the BBC for two seasons and two specials while inspiring the American adaptation as well as several other international versions.
Since, Gervais has gone on to create several series including Extras, Life’s Too Short, and Derek.
For the film, Gervais will reprise his character David Brent for a feature-length story called Life on the Road. According to the NY Daily News, the movie “picks up in the years after the hapless office manager left his job at the Werner Hogg paper company.” And now instead of paper, he’s in the cleaning supplies business. Moving on up!
Life on the Road will hit theaters in August 2016.
What do you think? Were you a fan of The Office UK? Will you watch the film follow-up?
About time… Expecting the usual Gervais/Merchant quality, here. Good news!
