While Mr. Selfridge has supposedly been renewed, BBC1 has pulled the plug on The Paradise. There won’t be a third season for the period drama.
The Paradise revolves around the people who work and shop at the first English department store. Set in 1875, castmembers have included Emun Elliott, Joanna Vanderham, Elaine Cassidy, Sarah Lancashire, Matthew McNulty, Peter Wight, David Hayman, Stephen Wight, Sonya Cassidy, Ruby Bentall, Finn Burridge, and Patrick Malahide.
Of the cancellation, a BBC spokesperson said, “We are incredibly proud to have made two successful series of period drama The Paradise for BBC1. However, in order to make room for new dramas to come through, The Paradise won’t be returning.”
The show airs on PBS here in the US and only the first season has been shown. That ended in November and there’s been no word of airing the second season yet.

In all my years of watching TV dramas, never had I been more captivated by a production than this. It’s attention to detail and well thought out cast has left it’s viewers hungering for more. A true masterpiece, with it’s creative writing would leave any viewer whom watches just one episode longing for more. How such an amazing drama is canceled after only two seasons is beyond me. The Paradise is one of the best Masterpiece mini-series broadcasted in the US in this decade. So looking forward to Season 2 to be released and thrilled to hear of a return and the making of Season 3!

Although The Paradise series two will me shown in the US, sometime in Sept., there still is not word about series three. The efforts to bring it back are still ongoing, with the Petition that now has over 5600 signatures.

I am so disappointed…the Paradise was one of my favorite shows! I couldnt wait for it to come on each week. Please return this show and air the second season here in the states. Its definately a mistake to cancel this show. This and Dowton Abbey are the reasons i watch this channel.
The Paradise is one of the best series I have seen in many years and can not understand how they can put down such a wonderful series after only two seasons in which the series leaves the viewer with a lot of questions that remain unanswered. So my only hope now is to get back in this wonderful series back to my TV screen is that I have written on a petition who has started on save The Paradise Facebook page.

Hi there, just like many others, I too fell very fondly of the show. Its quite unique and very entertaining. Very sad it has been cancelled. However, let us fans at least enjoy Season 2. Thanks.
I found The Paradise on Netflix’s yesterday and have finished Season 1…love the show and am ready for Season 2..I am very surprised to find the show is no longer filming after Session 2..very sad. Please, please, please air Season 2 on Netflix..thanks.

I LOVE The Paradise! I’ve been waiting for Season 2 since Season 1 ended and now I’m finding that it may not air in the US, and I am so disappointed!! Please, at the very least, air season 2!!!
I agree with Hilary. I’ve accepted that the series has been cancelled but Season 2 is in the can. Please let us see it.

I absolutely love The Paradise. I rarely find things to watch on Netflix…..I was a fan of Monarch of the Glen, and watched it all. When I found The Paradise, I was in Paradise! Please bring it back! It has loyal followers, just as Monarch did, and cancelling only proved out to be a huge mistake in the long run for that series.
