While Mr. Selfridge has supposedly been renewed, BBC1 has pulled the plug on The Paradise. There won’t be a third season for the period drama.
The Paradise revolves around the people who work and shop at the first English department store. Set in 1875, castmembers have included Emun Elliott, Joanna Vanderham, Elaine Cassidy, Sarah Lancashire, Matthew McNulty, Peter Wight, David Hayman, Stephen Wight, Sonya Cassidy, Ruby Bentall, Finn Burridge, and Patrick Malahide.
Of the cancellation, a BBC spokesperson said, “We are incredibly proud to have made two successful series of period drama The Paradise for BBC1. However, in order to make room for new dramas to come through, The Paradise won’t be returning.”
The show airs on PBS here in the US and only the first season has been shown. That ended in November and there’s been no word of airing the second season yet.

I just watched Season 1 in one evening…captivating and creative.
Really bummed that I can’t find season 2 online to watch.
Most of all, I am extremely disappointed that BBC decided to cancel season 3.
What a great series of period drama with clever dialogue and interesting characters. Denise is a woman after my own heart! Love her:)
What a poor and disappointing decision. BBC1 rarely disappoints but this tragedy really stands out. Not everyone is 22 and in love with vampires or the like. They should have realized fans of this show do have merit. We also have disposable income and will simply migrate to NetFlix and the internet to find what we want, albeit sans advertising.
I’m so tired watching theses shows only so they can cancel it!!!! another BBC show I had to see Copper is cancelled. Why waste time getting into it when they just going to cancel them? sad because I really love BBC shows:-(
Please bring this show back! My 12 year old and I fell in love with this and watched the whole first season in 24 hours.
I’m so disapointed. Everytime a really well put togethet series is aired its cancelled . Who makes these decisions and i can’t believe its based on viewers input. This series appeared to havequite a healthy folliwing which confounds me as to why it was tossed in the “trash” . Sorry to see it go.
I cannot believe I have watched this series in two days to only find out it is cancelled.I am so disappointed.Please bring it back or at the very least let me see season two on Netflix.I am hooked!

This series is fantastic! Beautiful, genuine and so romantic! Why in the world would such a great show be discontinued? BBC is known for its wonderful array of shows. I can’t understand why one so good has been discontinued. PLEASE bring it back with all the original characters. It’s like reading a great book only to have it ripped from your hands halfway through and thrown away. The Paradise is possibly the best show I’ve ever seen. Please reconsider your decision. And where can I watch season 2?
I fell in love with this show and was broken hearted when I realized it had been cancelled. I watched season 1 on Netflix and am desperately trying to find season 2! There aren’t many quality programs these days. It’s a shame the ones that are have to be cancelled.

I LOVED The Paradise!!! I discovered it on Netflix and watched all of Season one in a few days. Anxiously waiting for Season 2 to be released to Netflix, only to discover it has been cancelled. I found it very beautiful and the Paradise very inviting to the female shopper. Everything about it had me wanting more. Very few shows have ever taken me into such a place that I find myself thinking about it during the day waiting to get home to watch it. Now it’s no more, very sad indeed.
I can’t believe this series is done. I watched all the episodes of Season One without stopping. I am so disappointed and would encourage BBC to not make room for new dramas by taking off something that is such a success. Please reconsider
