After The Playboy Club was cancelled by NBC, Playboy’s Hugh Hefner wrote, “It should have been on cable, aimed at a more adult audience.” Chad Hodge, the TV series’ creator and executive producer, agrees and hopes that the show will find new life there. Hodge is a Chicago native who previously worked on shows like Tru Calling and created CW’s Runaway.
He recently told Out, “I think NBC gave up too soon… Had NBC stuck with the show I think many more millions would have eventually shown up. Those who found the show realized it wasn’t what they expected — it was good. It was entertaining, sophisticated, and dazzling. It dealt with social mores and moral ethics. And it was an intentional guilty pleasure.”
Hodge is hopeful however that another NBC channel might still rescue Playboy Club. He said, “For weeks now, I’ve been saying we should move over to Bravo. This is a fun, sexy, soapy show, and our core audience is women and gay men. No brainer for them. Bravo has wanted to get into scripted programming for years now. I’d love them to pick up the show. If one million people watched our show on Bravo — a quarter of our NBC audience — it would be a runaway hit.”
The show creator believes that Americans are too conservative about sex, but too liberal when it comes to violence. He noted, “What happened? Remember Basic Instinct? Fatal Attraction? The Red Shoe Diaries? We’ve become such prudes… Sexuality is part of life. I’d be more worried about my kid seeing horrific violence than I would about them seeing network-approved make-out sessions.”
What do you think? Is Bravo a better fit for Playboy Club? Would you watch it there?

The Playboy Club is a terrific show … I hope that Bravo picks it up.
I would love to know how a show gets cancelled after only two episodes … it just does not seem possible to determine the fate of show after such a short period of time.
Yes! It should be picked up on a national cable network. It was great to see an intelligent show. One the likes of the 80’s Dallas. TV has become a wasteland of mindless reality shows because they are so cheap to produce and no one with any intelligence is required to follow them. Bring the whole Playboy club series back.
Don’t let this one go!! A great show!!
Its a great show, too bad they didnt give it a chance
I am very upset that NBC cancelled The Playboy Club. It was actually the only new show that has premiered this Fall that I actually found interesting. Big mistake NBC!!! Yes, I would definately watch The Playboy Club if it moved to Bravo or any other channel.
Yes! I have really enjoyed each show! I want more!
Quita LOL. Did that backwards
I AM MAD! I LOVE THIS SHOW! I WOULD WATCH IT ON ANY CHANNEL!!! What is so SEXUAL about it? Girls in basiclly batithing suits and one pieces at that. The “sex” scenes have been EXTREEMLY minimal and I almost wish there were more, it would be more realistic, especially when it come to scenes AT the mansion. IT WAS A SEXUAL TIME! THAT IS WHAT PLAYBOY DID FOR AMERICA (among other things) The american public is SOOOOOOO STUPID they wont watch this witty adorable drama, but they will watch hours of people clipping coupons or tanning or lest I… Read more »
I LOVED this show and was so upset to hear that NBC just dropped it! I would definitely watch this show on another network.
Yes! Please. This show has so much potential.
Don’t cancel this show!!!!
I thought this show had promise and more than a little irked when I heard it was canceled. Yes, it would do better on Bravo. I look forward to seeing the show progress.
i will watch this show regardless of what network!! LOVE IT!!
Im angry this is cancelled and hopefully someone picks this show up because im obssessed.
i think bravo would be a better fit for the show than nbc. maybe even fx or showtime, as they are more open to controversial and sexually charged content. although the show was much more tame than critics eluded, a cable network broadcast would allow them to push the envelope. it’s too bad they cancelled it… i was really warming up to it and hope that it does get picked up by bravo.
