TV show description:
A TV show adaptation of the Philipp Meyer novel of the same name, The Son is a Texas period drama that follows three generations of the McCullough family. The series features the metamorphosis of Eli McCullough (Brosnan).
The family patriarch, Eli, changes over the years from an affable innocent into a conniving killer. After losing everything on the wild frontier, Eli resolves to build a lasting ranching and oil dynasty and, in time, grows exceedingly wealthy.
Eli’s eldest son Pete (Garrett) has always labored in dear old dad’s shadow. He longs to be his own man and yet still make his father proud.
Pete’s headstrong daughter Jeannie (Lucas) worships her grandfather. Regardless of the times, and the fact that she’s living in a man’s world, Jeannie has no intention of living only for marriage and motherhood.
Eli is a brutal man, particularly in dealing with his rival, Spanish neighbor Pedro Garcia (Bardem). In pursuit of power, Eli sparks events reaping ramifications which ripple throughout the generations.
In flashbacks, the drama also tells the story of young Eli (Lofland) and Comanche war chief Toshaway (McClarnon), who served as his father figure. Throughout, The Son delves into the rise of the McCullough family empire.

Just began watching The Son on Hulu. I am not a cable viewer, but stream through my Roku. Not sure how it works when Hulu picks up a great series like this, hopefully, it can continue beyond Season 2 on Hulu. Lots of potential and great acting.
I loved, loved, loved this show. In my opinion the show should continue or be re-newed someway. I found the book and read it but really looked forward each week for the new episode. Have really been missing this wonderful show, and westerns are my favorite, which are very hard to find. That’s our heritage for goodness sakes!!!!
This was such a wonderful show ! We Love it and looked forward to watching every week. PLEASE someone pick it up and keep it going. There are just NOT enough good shows (western ) on TV. Thank you !
Looked forward to the show every season. I never missed an episode. There are so few good shows to watch. Hopefully they will come up with something as good
My husband and I looked forward to this show regularly. I can’t believe what a bad decision was made to cancel this one. So sad.
So disappointed that this has ended. I have so many questions of what happened to each of the family members and nothing showed the part of the Texas Rangers. We want more, Please!!
I liked the series and was sorry to see it end.
I loved the show and hated to see it end when there were so many dangling, unanswered mysteries. Why was there no mention of who Pete and Phineas’ mother was? In the book Eli was part of the Texas Rangers and that was why he was called “colonel” Why no play about that phase of his life? What happened to Toshaway? How did Ingrid continue her life? This is an outstanding show. The writing, acting, costumes, sets and photography are superb . So sorry to see it canceled. I hope more sane network heads will prevail and continue this family saga.
Loved this show, it should have been advertised more and Saturday night wasn’t the best night to have it on. Now I will never know who was the mother of Eli’s sons. Bring it back on. Great acting!
I thought it was a great show with a TERRIBLE ending…..why cancel one of the best shows ever….OK so it was a little brutal, the times were brutal! So sad to see it go….

I looked everywhere for this show for a year, just recently found it on AMC which was not the channel it was advertised to be on. I love it & would like for it to stay on. I also would like to see all the pasted episodes replayed . I firmly believe if this show had been advertised better more people could have been watching it.
