A spin-off of Hot in Cleveland, this sitcom revolves around Boyce “The Voice” Ballentine (Cedric the Entertainer). He lives the high life in Las Vegas, placing at the top of the music charts, when he gets “the calling.”
As a result, he decides to relocate to St. Louis with his family to become a preacher in the church of his former minister father, Barton Moses Ballentine (John Beasley). Making the change isn’t as smooth as he expected and must deal with the ups and downs of his church and family life.
Boyce’s wife Lolli (Niecy Nash) — now a beauty salon owner — and daughter Lyric (Jazz Raycole) aren’t exactly thrilled about giving up their fabulous superstar life for a new humble one. Fletcher Emmanuel “Stamps” Ballentine (Wesley Jonathan) is Boyce’s carefree and womanizing younger brother.

Election Day arrives and Boyce feels overwhelmed by the impact his campaign has had on his family — Barton is still in hospital and Stamps is moving away. Boyce still needs to win his wife Lolli’s vote.

What do you think? Do you like The Soul Man TV series? Do you think it should have ended or been renewed for a sixth season?
I feel the show should have a 6th season. The ratings were high and we, the fans, would love to see Boyce in his role as mayor!
I was very disappointed the show ended. I loved it. I wanted them to show a few seasons of Boyce being Mayor. Could have had some fresh new characters and given the writers limitless ideas. /// A side note: I never knew it was a Spin off of Hot In Cleveland…
I think the show should continue. This is one show that I look forward to each week. Just like so many great shows in the past; always canceling.
I agree, like “Happily Divorced”. I don’t think TV Land pays attention to it’s audience.
Love the show and am sorry it was canceled. It was funny and the cast was great together. No it’s not exactly like real life, but that’s what makes it so entertaining. So much more enjoyable than all those “reality” shows that are just plain dumb. Too much gore and violence on TV today. This was definitely comic relief.
Sad to see the show go. My husband and I enjoyed the show . We always got a good laugh. My favorite episode was when Boyle caught someone looking at his wife in a restaurant. And the video went viral.
Never be cancelled…great show…
I love The Soul Man! It’s funny in an effortless way. Cedric and Niecy are hilarious and the rest of the cast is perfect with them. I will always remember it!
Soul Man was very entertaining and should have been renewed. My husband and I were surprised and unhappy to find that it has ended. Guess there was not enough sex, vulgarity, and immorality. Sad.
I so looked forward to watching Soul Man every week. I had no idea the evening of 6/22..was the final episode. Dang Dang! Please come back!! Neicy crazy, Pops a fool and Stamps is so good looking. And you already no Cedy’s is definitely an Entertainer. I just love when he sings and dance too!
I’m sad to see this show go! It’s a funny, light hearted show, that promotes faith, family and community. I’m sure my comment probably won’t mean much, but this is a show I would surely like to stay on TV. With so many shows on TV promoting sex, scandal and violence, it’s nice to see a show that is the complete opposite! Besides, I would love to see how Boyce handles the city, and how Stamps does working with Alicia!
Me too!
I totally agree with you!
I would liked to see “Soul Man” a 6th season.
My thanks to all of the cast and crew of this show. Watching “The Soul Man” has been a real treat for me these past five years. I can honestly say that I am going to miss it. The final episode was so upbeat and positive. If only more sitcoms could be as inspiring and FUNNY!!!
Please don’t cancel. Very funny show. Great cast. Every time a good funny comedy is on TV somebody in the executive branch of the station makes a mistake that effects all the viewers. Not too many good sitcoms on TV anymore.
I truly believe that this show shouldn’t be cancel. I have so many reason for the show not to be cancel. It is funny, enjoyable, and wonderful to watch. It wouldn’t make any sense to cancel it. After all we want to see how Boyce is going to change the city after he get choose as mayor.
I love this show! I keep all my shows on the DVR and watch the episodes EVERYNIGHT before bed. The show is one of the reasons why I have the satellite package that I have. Please don’t cancel!!
