NBC has evicted one of its newest drama series. The network has cancelled The Village TV show so there won’t be a second season.
The Village stars Warren Christie, Michaela McManus, Lorraine Toussaint, Frankie Faison, Jerod Haynes, Dominic Chianese, Darren Kagasoff, Grace Van Dien, and Moran Atias. The story centers on the residents of a Brooklyn apartment building. While it looks the same as countless others from the outside, what goes on inside is rare, to say the least. Everyone at the Village has a story to tell, be it about their hopes and dreams, or the challenges they’re facing. Together, they’re a family and family means everything — even when you are not related.
The first season of The Village averaged a 0.66 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.12 million viewers. The defacto series finale aired on May 21st.
Compared to the other scripted NBC TV shows of the 2018-19 season, The Village ranks 13th in the demo and ninth in viewership. The series saw a momentary bump in the ratings ratings when NBC moved it an earlier timeslot but it didn’t last and the numbers soon hit new lows.
Today, the Peacock Network also cancelled The Enemy Within and Abby’s TV shows.
What do you think? Do you like The Village TV show? Are you sorry that it’s been cancelled. Would you have watched season two on NBC?
This was a great show with no violence and great acting. I am so disappointed. Maybe Netflix will pick it up. They usually recognize a good thing.
Great show, great cast, great real life stories! Was a welcome relief from garbage reality shows! A shame it was not appreciated! Would hope another network or Netflix would pick it up!
A good clean Family Show and it’s Canceled! Beyond Disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So so sad. Wanted this show to come back. I was
Re- watching season 1 again. I think NBC made a huge mistake. Hope they reconsider and bring it back!!!
Sad to hear The Village was cancelled. We never missed an episode. Hope another network picks it up. It had real life story lines that you could relate to. NBC, please rethink this decision.
I am also hoping another network picks this show up. Loved watching it each week and very disappointed it was cut.
So disappointed that NBC canceled this show! I am learning not to become attached to certain shows, as it’s likely the ones I like the most don’t survive the brutal first-year ratings battle.
I feel the same. Many of the shows I adore, get cancelled after the first year. I still miss Timeless.
It is so discouraging to get involved in a series such as The Village, care about the characters and truly look forward to seeing them the following week as us viewers get totally wrapped up in their lives, just to have some idiots in the marketing department pull the series because its ratings aren’t number 1. There are so many ridiculous and brainless shows on that our networks seem to like better, it sure doesn’t say a whole lot for them or the people those shows attract.
The Village was just getting started!!!
Diane2, My husband and I both couldn’t agree with you more!! You have stated it perfectly!! The networks don’t really care about us as the viewers, it’s all about being #1! Please bring “The Village” back!!!!!!!!!
Could not agree more. Now we were left hanging with so many unanswered questions. Hope some other network will give this family of people another chance.
So very sad that The Village was cancelled!! It was one of the best shows on TV!
My girlfriend and I would watch every episode together and really got attached to the characters. So sad that there won’t be anymore shows. 🙁
Best New Show in Years and NBC cancelled it!
Talk about a Wednesday Thursday Friday moment!
WOW!
CANNOT BELIEVE THEY CANCELLED THIS SHOW! What is wrong with NBC? Best show on the network and they canceled it? How annoyed I am. Let’s hurry up and put on some really garbage (“hook up or check out”) or another rebooted game show.
Loved this show!! Please bring it back!!
I loved this show and I am sad that there won’t be a season 2
I loved this show.. I’m very sad that it is canceled and there won’t be a second season..
