TNT has had both great successes and big disappointments when it comes to their original scripted shows. Which of the current crop will be cancelled or renewed for another season? Stay tuned!
Scripted TNT shows listed: Agent X, The Alienist, Animal Kingdom, Claws, Dallas, Falling Skies, Franklin & Bash, Good Behavior, I Am the Night, The Last Ship, The Lazarus Project, Legends, The Librarians, Major Crimes, Murder in the First, Perception, Proof, Public Morals, Rizzoli & Isles, Snowpiercer, Transporter: The Series, and Will.
Last updated: Most recent ratings added for The Lazarus Project.
There’s lots of data that TNT execs look at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but ratings are the major ingredient. Here’s an updated listing of all of their recent/current primetime scripted shows.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also view them here and here.
A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released (usually a day or so after the broadcasts). The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.
The demo numbers, which are typically most important to the broadcast networks, aren’t quite as vital to cable channels because their audiences are usually much smaller. Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking.
What do you think? Are you surprised by any of the ratings? Which shows should be doing better? Which one do you think will be cancelled next?
Please, TNT, renew Rizzoli & Isles…but hire a new showrunner who won’t turn a crime show into a sitcom the way Jan Nash has.
Please it seems like jan nash wrote this season of rizzoli and isles without any crime. There were no twists or turns or surprise ending. Kind of disappointing
Seems to be taking forever to renew Rizzoli and Isles. I sure hope the previous poster was correct in saying its a contract negotiation thing and that it’ll be renewed before Halloween. The numbers are great, still at the top of the list and tons of fans want to see it come back. Fingers crossed that it does.
I like the series Legends
It shows promise. I’d like to see it renewed
The Last Ship, Preception, and Rizzoli & Isles ought to be cancelled. Murder in the First — haven’t seen all the episodes yet, so I’d give it a chance.
Maureen, I disagree about Rizzoli- have been watching since Day 1. I don’t watch the other shows you mentioned but I am sure they have their fans too. I wouldn’t wish for someone else’s fave to be cancelled just because YOU don’t like it.
Please keep Dallas on the air. I love the new Dallas and I loved the original Dallas!
Any news on Perception? It’s my favorite show & I am on pins & needles waiting for a season 4 renewal. Any word on the holdup?
Not yet.
@ Stepehen Cohen – Are you really telling the truth? Do you work for TNT? It is great if this is true….. DALLAS has so many fans that are not in the DEMO ratings 18-49 range!!
I do and the series will be renewed and appear on a different night.
Wow, interesting exchange about Dallas…. I was wonder if you have any news about Rizzoli and Isles. The last I heard was they were discussing contracts before renewing. This is interesting as they will go into syndication in 2015.
That I am not authorized to talk about.
Stephen,
Do you have any news (hopefully good) about Perception? Does it look like it will be renewed?
I love Dallas and it is a refreshing change from the glut of crime dramas and reality shows currently on television. If done right this current series could be a ratings smash but instead what we viewers got was a team that didn’t capture the essence of the original and had no clue about what made it so successful in the first place. Dallas has always been and should be about family dynamics and big business. Instead what we got this season was a influx of crime drama story lines that felt out of place on Dallas. A 4th season… Read more »
I have been reading the insane comments about Dallas being dead. One person claims their brother in law works at TNT and told her it was dead. What a joke!
I work at TNT and I am an executive and it is not dead by any means. Contracts for next season are in the process of being signed.
Interesting…. Could you shed like on Rizzoli and Isles and what’s the hold up for renewing for season 6? Contracts?????
If you were in fact an executive at TNT, you would not be allowed to go on forums and give away cast/crew contract negotiation information. Look at the ratings. Dallas is dead. The season 3 finale on Monday hit a SERIES LOW!!! in total ratings and the demo is under a 0.45. No TV executive in their right mind would renew that train wreck. It is dead. And if by chance my brother in law is wrong (which he never has been before) and you are right, then you and your network are the joke. Your hypothetical season 4 would… Read more »
I like it when members of the public tell me how to do my job or what I can and cannot do!
Called breach of contract. You can’t go on forums and discuss anything about a show even as a executive. So ok Mr. “executive” you would be fired for doing so.
Hmmmm……you must not be very good at your job. You told us the show was renewed, I said it wasn’t. Guess who turned out to be correct? Not you. I told people my brother-in-law works at TNT and that I was correct. I had no reason to lie. Unfortunately this person above was pretending to be a member of TNT’s executive team and was lying. Shame on you for giving false hope to the fans out there! At least I was honest and gave them the truth. Next time, don’t doubt what I say or pretend to know things, you… Read more »
The last minute decision to cancel Dallas was made by the new CEO John Martin.
I just read on another site in regards to Rizzoli and Isles that we will have to wait and find out when season 5 returns in early 2015 –(they are speaking of the cliff-hanger when Jane jumps over the bridge). That sounds to me like the 2nd half of 5th season HAS been renewed. Sure hope so!
The episodes in Feb 2015 are the remainder of Season 5. The shot 18 episodes this season and they have aired 12. Season 6 renewal that would begin next summer has not been indicated.
TNT renewed the series for the entire fifth season last year.
What about for Season 6????
It hasn’t been renewed for a sixth season or cancelled yet.
im really confused about ratings and why hasnt rizzoli and isles been renewed yet when they have renewed major crimes and i thought it was a 15 ep series wat are tnt waiting for i mean im watching series 5 now are tnt waiting for other countries to catch up it doesent make sense when rizzoli and isles is the leading n01 cable show surely u renewed the best first and let the no so good fight it out who gets dropped and who gets saved its not giving fans confidence to watch tnt which then puts tnt in a… Read more »
There are lots of possible reasons why they haven’t renewed it yet. The ratings are still strong so I suspect it may be a contract issue.
I believe the main reason cable shows have a lower tune-in is that they split their seasons. You just into a rhythm of watching then boom, off again!!! Like many of the shows mentioned here.
My brother-in-law works at TNT and told me Dallas is already dead. So is Legends and Franklin & Bash. That is why they are ordering so many new pilots and series.
It makes total sense. Legends and Franklin & Bash have collapsed in the ratings. Dallas has collapsed in the ratings too, but from a quality standpoint it is a truly awful show. Horrible scripts. Thank God it’s about to be put down for good.
If Dallas is already dead why is TNT still paying for them to rent their studios and paying the writing team who have been working since July? They have 3 scripts ready an 8o page bible already turned in. Why not promote this as the last show ever? The fact is it may not be renewed but no it’s not decided, sounds instead like you just wish it were.
It is dead. TNT frequently cancels shows after the finale airs without telling the audience. For example: Mob City, King & Maxwell, Monday Mornings, Southland. Their season finales aired, then it became the series finale. Just accept what I am telling you and hush with your doubts.
Danielle,
I believe Dallas is gone too. I mean they are down what 38% over last year and frankly it’s some of the worst acting I have seen when I bother to watch. Now since you appear to be in the know why hasn’t TNT announced the renewal of Rizzoli and Isles for Season 6 , their #1 rate show . I mean they’re shooting 18 ep this year and I haven’t heard of any unrest on the show and no one not wanting to come back. Can you shed any light on this?????
Thanks
Apparently the Rizzoli & Isles hold-up has to do with contracts for Angie and Sasha. The show is a hit, so they want a raise. But this is more of an issue between Warner Horizon and the cast, not TNT. They will be back, they have such fantastic ratings and are a staple of TNT’s line-up. Plus, there are a few more episodes in the can to air this winter, so there doesn’t feel like there is a huge rush. There should be an announcement within the next month (before Halloween). They will also announce in about a month the… Read more »
I have two very close friends who work with the executives and they said that its looking promising Dallas is being renewed and will be moved to another night behind a show that has high ratings to follow in from. They are currently in talks of the scripts that Cidre has written and where she is taking the show.
@ Josh – Are these 2 friends up to par about Dallas being possibly renewed? Hopefully this is true!
You are correct. Dallas is being renewed and going to appear on a different night.
Seems as if Stephen thinks you don’t really know what you’re talking about. Since you’re not an employee or executive at TNT, my guess is, he’s correct. I love DALLAS, so I for one would really appreciate not reading your negativity about the show. None of us know what will happen to any of the shows until TNT makes announcements. Hope mine & your favorites are renewed.
Well your guess turns out to be wrong. I did know what I was talking about, seeing how the show was cancelled. I had no reason to lie.
Maybe next time you will listen.
Always gonna be doubters, but it’s kind of you to pass on the information you have. 🙂
Got my fingers crossed for the Rizzoli and Isles season 6 renewal announcement. I really hope it happens soon, feels like the fans have been waiting forever for it to happen.
All Dallas TNT fans, Listen up! Send your emails to show support for our favorite show to be renewed for a Season 4 & beyond to: info-tnt@turner.com The executives @ TNT are
listening to the fans of Dallas TNT & want to hear from us! Dallas TNT 4-Ever!
please renew rizzoli and isles its my top show the only other show i watch is major crimes, otherwise i dont watch tv, i have heard a programme is gonna be cancelled coz of the ads i hope its not rizzoli and isles i will be so sad.
Please keep Dallas and Legends, both are two of my must see shows weekly. I believe that given the chance, Legends can gain strength as time goes on.
The last ship is my favorite show. I’m glad to see it’s renewed for season 2.
I wasn’t feeling the first season of Dallas, and the second was merely OK. The third season though has had me on the edge of my seat. It almost seems unfair that we are reduced to only an hour a week. I am seeing a lot of people complain that they are not being faithful to the original, and they need to bring the old characters back. I can point out plenty of issues with this. 1) Most of the old cast is either dead, deformed thanks to plastic surgery, or so old they are tired and done with acting.… Read more »
I agree, this season has been heart stopping! I love this show and hope they keep it going. I love the blend of the old and the new…great story line this year!
Dallas each season grows with new dimensions. I agree with Teresa – heart stopping – unexpected twists and turns.
I look forward to next year. I am sure many viewers are, as we speak, are trying to put the pieces together to the many unanswered plots in the series finale.
