TV show description:
This crime thriller series is based on the feature film of the same name and picks up some 15 years later.
Detective Frank Rourke (Bill Paxon) is the maverick head of the Special Investigation Section (SIS) that hunts the city’s most dangerous criminals. He’s also one of the finest investigators the department has ever produced.
However, when the LAPD brass notices Rourke’s penchant for operating in a gray area to fight the war on crime, they assign Kyle Craig (Justin Cornwell), a heroic and untarnished cop, to pose as Frank’s trainee to spy on him and report on his off-book methods.
The members of Frank’s loyal team include Rebecca Lee (Katrina Law), a formidable officer with killer aim and a dark past, and Tommy Campbell (Drew Van Acker), a former pro surfer who follows Frank’s orders without hesitation.
The team’s cases find Frank and Kyle often crossing paths with Detective Valeria Chavez (Christina Vidal), one of the LAPD’s top investigators. Providing Frank with intel is his girlfriend, Holly Butler (Julie Benz) — a well-connected, unapologetic Hollywood madam.
While LAPD Deputy Chief Joy Lockhart (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) coolly puts Kyle in danger in her mission to take down Frank, Kyle’s schoolteacher wife, Alyse (Lex Scott Davis), worries her husband’s resolve to avenge the murder of his cop father may be his undoing.
As Frank starts teaching his principled trainee the way of the streets — where the ends often justify the means — they form an uneasy alliance that will change the course of both their lives irrevocably.
Episode #13 — Elegy, Part 2
Kyle, Tommy and Rebecca must rescue Frank when he goes on a rogue mission to Mexico to locate intel linked to the murder of Kyle’s father.
First aired: May 20, 2017.
What do you think? Do you like the Training Day TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I know Bill Paxton is gone. Very sad but wish the show could go on
I agree, wish it could have been continued, really liked the show and the supporting cast too.
Keep Training Day. As much as Bill Paxton brought to this great show, I’m suure there are others who could move it. It had a different spin to it. Renew it.
Keep training day. A different spin to it than others. As great as Bill Paxton was, I’m sure there are others to take his place with that marvelous personality.
Keeeeeeeep it!!!!
I’m sure Bill would dislike the show to end. He will be sorely missed. I like the format. Finally cops with an edge. Nice mix of people too.
This a great show. Bill Paxton was the main character. How can you replace him
He will be missed.
I really enjoyed the show; however, with Bill Paxton’s passing, I can’t see how the show could go on since he was the central character. No one else could fill his shoes. Such a shame. R.I.P. Mr. Paxton. You will be missed.
Exciting, fresh, characters have great chemistry plus storyline is renewing. Hate Bill is gone but show can still be salvaged
Great show but with the passing of Bill Paxton I cannot think of anyone that could replace him as the main character. RIP BILL
Such an awesome show. So sorry for the loss of Bill. It would have been wonderful to see more of his great acting! RIP
Renew. Great show, talented cast. Marketing could use improvement to create more interest.
Gary Sinise as a former partner, rival, whatever, comes in as new character to clean up, join , lead, the existing unit in the investigation of the murder of Bill Paxton’s character. Anyone who remembers the early days of CSI New York will remember how well he played the “dark” part of Mac Taylor.
Added bonus: Gary is probably available since CBS made the (wrong) decision to cancel Criminal Minds Beyond Borders.
excellent show!!!! So sorry about Bill Paxton, horrible loss for hollywood. It will never be as good as the first season, Bill is amazing, the rest of cast is great too. Something finally worth watching
Continue it…Try to find replacement for the great Bill Paxton
Think Training Day was a great show….and would definitely watch season 2….loved Bill Paxton….maybe Josh Lucas would be a good replacement….
Renewed, Frank and his gal leave and start a new life. Bring in a new Detective, and start a new session.
