To no surprise whatsoever, NBC has cancelled their Monday night medical TV show, Trauma — for real this time.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The NBC series got off to a poor start last fall with just a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.68 million viewers. The ratings fell from there and the show was essentially cancelled when the network decided not to order additional episodes beyond the initial baker’s dozen.
Then, in large part because the show was still in production and NBC needed additional original programming, the network ordered an additional seven episodes. Viewership continued to fall and NBC cut back their additional order to five installments. The last one aired on April 26th.
Though NBC has a lot of slots to fill on the 2010-11 schedule, Trauma’s ratings were just too low to pay for a second season. It’s been cancelled after 18 episodes.
Though devoted fans may mourn the series’ demise, a consolation might be that they got five more episodes than the ratings realistically warranted.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Trauma won’t be back next season? Any thoughts on how you would have wrapped up the series?

NBC has lost their minds again! My daughter and I loved this show and they take it off the air. It makes you not to watch any new show in fear it will be gone after two airings. They need to clean the s..t out between thier ears at NBC.
I loved that show. Loved the actors, everything.
Every monday i looked forward to 9pm so I could watch it.
Sucks that its over.
🙁
I tend to watch all the medical drama’s and I think this was one of the best! Very sad this was canceled and not given longer to pick up bigger audiences. Looked forward to Monday nights just to watch it.
My paramedic class loved to watch Trauma on our lunch break at school. Soooo sorry you guys took it off the air. The show wasnt a 100% accurate but what TV show is….reality TV? Thats a bunch of made for TV crap. Bring back trauma please
We’ve watched all of the new “medical” dramas and thought this one actually made a little sense. We hate to see it cancelled. Please bring it back! Would love to know where the story lines go!!!!
Sorry to see this show cancelled. I really enjoyed watching it.
My husband and I looked forward to Trauma every week as well. We tried Mercy and could not get into it, but really enjoyed Trauma! Bummer that it’s gone. Dumb NBC.
BEST SHOW ever…. please please please bring it back, you have to give it time, get rid of the reality show and bring back trauma
my wife and I both love Trauma, it’s the only show on NBC I found worth watching. They never gave it a fair chance. No more NBC for me….
As usual, really good, enjoyable TV is cancelled, so that the many reality shows, and all the other crap can still be aired. What a very sad and disappointing state of our society, and mankind, that quality TV, with good characters and good stories lose out to same old same old crap and poor quality – as usual – people dont care and would rather just be “lead by the nose”, and follow the crowd, no matter where it goes – you know, that thing in your head, called the brain, really is for thinking, and individually is really NOT… Read more »
I had something to look forward to watching on the television. I am a Paramedic and really enjoyed seeing a show from that perspective. The characters were realistic, the calls were amazing, some over the top of course, but this is tv. I wanted to see if Dr. Joe came back and follow the rest of the story lines. Many people I speak to have never heard of the show, I agree with the person that said it wasn’t given a chance and had no publicity. It would be awesome if they could give it a couple of more episodes… Read more »
MY DAUGHTER IS AN EMT. I TOTALLY AGREE WITH LISA. IT WAS A FAST PACED GOOD SHOW. I HAVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT OUR EMT’S DO. IT IS A SHAME THE SHOW WAS CANCELLED. THERE ARE MANY DUMB DUMB SHOWS ON OUT THERE. SO THE IS NOT MUCH TO CHOOSE FROM TO WATCH. SO ON MORE EMPTY SPOT OF AN ALREADY LIMITED SELECTION. BOO TO YOU, BRING TRAUMA BACK
This is the second time I voiced my opinion about Trauma. How could they take off such a great show without giving it a chance? I looked forward to Monday nights just for that show. Why don’t you take off the really crappy shows instead? Please bring back Trauma!
Yay! It’s gone! Been in EMS for 30 years and it made me embarrassed that this show was associated with us. Finally NBC does something right.
I’ve been in EMS 17 years and I, and my whole family loved the show! RS-If you didn’t watch it and like it, then how did you learn anything about the show? How do you know it was bad?? You must have watched it at some point!
All you EMS workers that keep putting this show down, need to realize that it is a television show! Meaning it is for entertainment! Get off your high horse and move on. ITS ENTERTAINMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Most people seemed to realize this except for the ones who are in this career.
Its entertainment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what a shame. here’s a show featuring a great storyline and real people, people with integrity for a change. and away it goes.
