To no surprise whatsoever, NBC has cancelled their Monday night medical TV show, Trauma — for real this time.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The NBC series got off to a poor start last fall with just a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.68 million viewers. The ratings fell from there and the show was essentially cancelled when the network decided not to order additional episodes beyond the initial baker’s dozen.
Then, in large part because the show was still in production and NBC needed additional original programming, the network ordered an additional seven episodes. Viewership continued to fall and NBC cut back their additional order to five installments. The last one aired on April 26th.
Though NBC has a lot of slots to fill on the 2010-11 schedule, Trauma’s ratings were just too low to pay for a second season. It’s been cancelled after 18 episodes.
Though devoted fans may mourn the series’ demise, a consolation might be that they got five more episodes than the ratings realistically warranted.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Trauma won’t be back next season? Any thoughts on how you would have wrapped up the series?

i was very upset to here that trauma had been canceled. I remeber the first commercial for it, I am a 23 year old texas medic myself. Trauma was a show that every one at my station could relate to we would all set down and wacth every episode together, even the off duty guys and ther families would come to the station and have a great time watching. It is very rare that some one is able to pourtray or life stile so realisticly. it was great to have a show like that it was like a BIG THANK… Read more »
I really wish the show would come back. I watch the series on my IPOD sometime during every week. It was and is such a good show.
There are so many many stupid shows on now. One channel has a couple of reality shows about cupcakes!? Really???? They are a better choice than Trauma?
Big mistake, big big mistake…HUGE!
please why do you keep takeing this of the air… it must continue….!!!!!
It one of the best shows out there please please please … lets let trauma have a good long life on the air. please it MUST continue.. it is excellent.
I thought it was an excellent show. As a recently retired professional career firefighter/paramedic this show was right on with a lot of aspects of the job. I compared it to a modern day “EMERGENCY!” It will be sadly missed
I loved this.. show almost as much as house.. and its upsetting knowing that it wont be back.. yet again..
That’s crap that they are canceling it. It was the first show to give EMT’S and Medics the respect that they deserve. They have all these show about fire and police. Why are they the only one’s that get respect?
I am so upset that Trauma will not be back. There are way too many reality shows on and they are trash,,, Give us some other choices.
Devastated! I loved the show, and am very sorry to hear it won’t get a chance to do it better in a second season – the characters were really worth saving.
My husband and myself are very upset that Trauma isn’t going to have a 2nd season. :(. We enjoyed watching this show. My husband asked me to write in to express our sadness. 🙁
They really should give this a second Shot.
I got my daughter and her boyfriend, also her friends hook on this show. They went on Computer to start from the being so they could watch with me. They are 20,21,26 and I’m 46 yrs old. Now you can see its great show for all ages.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Give this another shot.
Trauma was the best medical drama on tv i had never cared for any medical drama on tv until Trauma came along I wish NBC could have given it a second season so more people can find out about it.
Sure, They will cancel a great show like TRAUMA for another Cop show like Law an order LA. What the hell is up with LAw an order ? That show just sucks, Ya it was good when it first came out, but now its just getting out of hand. Get rid of a Law an Order an put TRAUMA back on. There is nothing good on Monday nights anyway.
