To no surprise whatsoever, NBC has cancelled their Monday night medical TV show, Trauma — for real this time.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The NBC series got off to a poor start last fall with just a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.68 million viewers. The ratings fell from there and the show was essentially cancelled when the network decided not to order additional episodes beyond the initial baker’s dozen.
Then, in large part because the show was still in production and NBC needed additional original programming, the network ordered an additional seven episodes. Viewership continued to fall and NBC cut back their additional order to five installments. The last one aired on April 26th.
Though NBC has a lot of slots to fill on the 2010-11 schedule, Trauma’s ratings were just too low to pay for a second season. It’s been cancelled after 18 episodes.
Though devoted fans may mourn the series’ demise, a consolation might be that they got five more episodes than the ratings realistically warranted.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Trauma won’t be back next season? Any thoughts on how you would have wrapped up the series?

Absolutely ridiculous. You never know what to expect from NBC.
Well, I really hope it comes back. But what can you expect from the same network that can’t make up its mind what to do with Jay Leno? Retire him? Put him on at a different time and rename his show? Hire Conan O’Brien to replace him and then give him the axe and rehire Jay Leno back and give the Tonite Show back to him? Maybe they ought to just bring back Johnny Carson and run re-runs. That network is like a fart in a wind storm! It’s all politics, anyway. Personally, my favorite is Fox. I think it… Read more »
I have been looking on my DVI often to search for the show Trauma to see when it would start again. It was my favorite show, and I had my DVI set to record all new episodes of the series. I just kept checking, thinking that it may have been moved to a different time slot or possibly even a different network. It never did show up under SEARCH A-Z. I can’t believe it’s been canceled. I thought it was a wonderful show, exciting and very realistic. What’s the matter with these dummies? It even seemed like an all-star cast.… Read more »
My husband and I would wait until mondays just to see trauma this really upsets us that it wont be returning. We are both in the medical field and this show really inspired us… Damnit
As a paramedic student i found this show to be awesome!!!!!! Our instructors talk about back then and how they had emergency, i absolutely loved season one of trauma. i honestly haven’t had that much time to watch tv, so i really didn’t even know this show existed until i was flipping through the channels and found it one night. i hope whoever important over there at NBC realizes that it needed more advertising and like other comments i have read, the other shows coming out this season… well they blow. c’mon and give it another shot, 232 comments, really!!… Read more »
I cant believe they cancelled trauma it was one of my favorites. I hope they reconsider and bring it back.
You know i am really getting pissed that everytime tv gets a good thing going they drop it because of politics or stupidity in scheduling. (Boston Public, espn Playmakers,My name is Earl,Cavemen, and The Unusuals)In this case it’s STUPID SCHEDULING !!!!!!!!! How do you expect Trama to do well against a flood of Stupid ass reality shows and monday night football which takes the lionshare of ratings. If you ask me NBC wasn’t intending on keeping trama in the first place. You see guys the only real tv show nbc ever had that made gravy for them in the ratings was the Mighty… Read more »
I would like them to bring back “Trauma” although we do have Fx’s “Rescue Me”, Still wont be the same though, living in the Bay Area and seeing that Show’s Setting in San Francisco boosted my thoughts on being a Firefighter for my City Richmond, CA. Not letting it stop me though
I TOOK SPECIAL NOTICE OF WHAT MY SELECTIONS OF PROGRAMS THAT WERE ON LAST NIGHT AND THE NIGHT BEFORE. THERE IS NOTHING ON OR COMING ON THIS NEXT SEASON THAT EVEN COMES CLOSE TO WHAT TRAUMA WAS.
BRAINLESS REALITY SHOWS, MORE MURDERS AND COPS, OLD SHOWS UPDATED. AND LETS NOT FORGET THE AIRPLANE CRASH OR STORM THAT TAKES PLACE AND EVERYONE WHO SURVIVED IS WEIRD NOW. A VERY SAD TIME FOR TV. A FRUSTRATING TIME FOR VIEWERS
can’t believe that crap.. that show was awesome
I;m very disapointed that Trauma was cancelled, I loved it!!, I was only watching NBC because of it. So i guess no more NBC for me, there are far worst shows on NBC than trauma…PUT IT BACK!!!!!!
“Trauma” – – One of the best shows on the air . . . Hopefully TNT will pick it up as that’s the only channel I watch now that “Trauma” won’t be back!
I am extremely upset that ‘Trauma” is being cancelled! This is one of the better ones! Please bring it back!
Here in Australia – we are just coming to the last three episodes! Our family is devasated. What is wrong with the netwroks these days – are they going broke or do they just make so much money out of reality programs that they have lost their creativity? Is that why they can’t make big budget TV series anymore??? San Francisco is the perfect city to set this show in….no chance it can be picked up by another network or cable channel????
I am so upset and so is my husband that Trauma was cancelled, the show really was great and I think that it should reutrn for another season. Please Please bring it back for us.
