To no surprise whatsoever, NBC has cancelled their Monday night medical TV show, Trauma — for real this time.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The NBC series got off to a poor start last fall with just a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.68 million viewers. The ratings fell from there and the show was essentially cancelled when the network decided not to order additional episodes beyond the initial baker’s dozen.
Then, in large part because the show was still in production and NBC needed additional original programming, the network ordered an additional seven episodes. Viewership continued to fall and NBC cut back their additional order to five installments. The last one aired on April 26th.
Though NBC has a lot of slots to fill on the 2010-11 schedule, Trauma’s ratings were just too low to pay for a second season. It’s been cancelled after 18 episodes.
Though devoted fans may mourn the series’ demise, a consolation might be that they got five more episodes than the ratings realistically warranted.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Trauma won’t be back next season? Any thoughts on how you would have wrapped up the series?

I am SO upset. I loved Trauma. Not just because of the action but also because I am in school to become a paramedic. They NEED to bring it back!!! PLEEEAAAASSSSEEEEE!!!!!
This was one of the few series that I was looking forward to coming back. I think it was NBC’s poor judgement on the time they aired them. It was awful competition and any other time frame, their ratings would have been much higher. I HATE THIS AND I WANT THEM BACK!!! There is just not much to look forward to on TV any more.
This is crap!!!!!! This show rocked.
I loved that show now they go and cancel it! Really depressing i mean i loved it i looked forward to it every week!
Sorry that Trauma was cancelled. I thought it was a great show, lots of action and great story line.
That totally sucks! This was my replacement for ER’s glory days 🙁 very sad to hear that it was cancelled 🙁 I hope they decide to bring it back…
This was my favorite show!!! It is actually like that out there on those trauma scenes!! I should know!! I am an EMT!!! I loved this show and I think that you are really dumb for taking it off!!!! You never even finished the first season!!! We don’t know what happens to Rabbit and Nancy!! This is stupid!!!!
Seriously!!! Trauma was a great show, a show that i loved to watch after a long day of work on an ambulance. It was very entertaining and for EMS Personel it was something that we could relate to
loved the show very much and are very disappointed trama is getting cancelled. Medical shows are my thing and I thought this one had a really good storyline all the time. I would love to see them bring it back. I would be a watcher for this one.
at a point where i’m going to wait and see if a show makes it to a second season; i’ll download it and watch at my convenience. bye bye cable bill
Unbelievable!! It’s like a revolving door. Great show, cancelled! Great show, cancelled! Trauma was awesome, my wife and I really enjoyed it. These networks need to start getting their act together. Don’t even want to start watching anything new for fear it will be cancelled too. Too bad
That’s crap they finally get a show worth watching and they cancel it! I guess I won’t be watching that channel anymore!
trauma was the best show i have ever seen i liked it more than rescue me pleeeeease bring it back
I am so dissappointed that “Trauma” has been cancelled. It was a show that was action packed, and the characters were just starting to be developed. My husband enjoyed it immensely as well and he never watches medical dramas. Being in the medical profession myself, this show was real. The cliffhanger did not even end the show since the decision had been made to end it. The fans were left hanging. Shame on you NBC for ending such a wonderful show. Hopefully it will be picked up by another network.
It’s hard to comprehend how they can keep some of the stuff that is on TV these days and cancel quality programming like Trauma. We now watch very little network TV and focus on series that are developed on other cable channels. They seem to be more receptive to building an audience, allow for more time slots to watch the program in our busy life and are less concerned about knocking off competition by pitting promising shows against a highly rated one on another channel. Trauma was one that we actually looked forward to watching, so there are only a… Read more »
