To no surprise whatsoever, NBC has cancelled their Monday night medical TV show, Trauma — for real this time.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The NBC series got off to a poor start last fall with just a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.68 million viewers. The ratings fell from there and the show was essentially cancelled when the network decided not to order additional episodes beyond the initial baker’s dozen.
Then, in large part because the show was still in production and NBC needed additional original programming, the network ordered an additional seven episodes. Viewership continued to fall and NBC cut back their additional order to five installments. The last one aired on April 26th.
Though NBC has a lot of slots to fill on the 2010-11 schedule, Trauma’s ratings were just too low to pay for a second season. It’s been cancelled after 18 episodes.
Though devoted fans may mourn the series’ demise, a consolation might be that they got five more episodes than the ratings realistically warranted.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Trauma won’t be back next season? Any thoughts on how you would have wrapped up the series?

No No No. Who’s making these stupid decisions? This is a GREAT show on parallel with 24 and Friends and Boston Legal. Whoever is making these decisions needs to get a reality check. This is a great action-packed show with credible relationships. No wonder I don’t watch TV anymore.
Trauma is/was a great show. We just found out about it a week ago and have watched every episode on NetFlix. NBC didn’t advertise this show at all!! That is why it failed to rank higher than it did. This show is awesome and I hope that some other network picks it up and runs with it!
Great actors and great plots, you just can’t beat it!!!
NNOO!!!!! trauma was the only show i looked forward to. I watch hero too but they cant cancel Trauma! That was the best show
yes it was good show. and to bad it got off to bad start.
hope to sea another show like it it would bee. great
I was waiting for Trauma to return not knowing it had been cancelled. I sure like to be the reveiwer for TV ratings. Trauma is a hell of alot better than those reality series, which are fake. My causins friend had been a contestant on one and said they are told to
make drama for ratings. Come on NBC….You need to do some reconstruction or sould I recomend soul searching!!!!
This is so upsetting – Trauma was an excellent drama! There was a day when NBC ruled the networks and now they obviously don’t no a good show when they have it!?!?! Which is why they are the ABC of years ago! Please bring it back and use the budget for your next flop “The Cape” I mean, cmon’ here, The Cape – for realsies?!?!?!?!?
the ending looked like they were going to make another season
I am VERY upset that Trauma will no longer be on tv! My husband and I watched it every single week and honestly, it was our favorite show!! I cant understand why you wont give it another chance! Come on NBC!
I think they should bring it back for another season. If not then give us some kind of ending you never know bring it back and the rating just might go up. I’m not sure how you do your ratings if when someone DVRs the show because they are at work if that counts or not because thats how i have to do most of my shows i work and cant watch them at the time that they are showing but believe you me im recording them the watch once i get home.
I’m going to try this again, I can’t believe another good show fell to the ratings,my wife and I didn’t miss a show and really disapointed that NBC made the choice to cancel it, But I guess we need more Cop shows and we need to see more KILLING going on instead of something worth watch and learning from it. PLease bring it back, Or should we say SHAME on you NBC.
As it always happens good shows fall to poor ratings, my wife and I watch every week and even taping shows when we thought we wood miss them. we enjoyed every show. Bet I guess there needs to be more COP shows so people can watch people gettying murdered, in stead of saving lives, and also learning about a people in this job of being Emts. and about everyday life. SHAME on you NBC. We miss Rabbit
Shows like Trauma and Mercy should continue. However, if its in their plans to take it off or not pick it up for another season they(nbc) should give us at least some kind of ending. Yes its not the end of the world, but as a consumer I expect so much more from a large tv company like this one to deliver fully, even if they are disappointed with their outcome. To the ones that did took the time to watch these series, its like a slap in the face. It makes me not want to watch any new series… Read more »
Come on NBC! You can not take a show like Trauma, an amazing show with every aspect of suspence, and drama, off the air and replace it with “The Cape” What is this a cheap remake “The Incredibles” ! Trama is the reason why im in school training to be a paramedic, it is the reason why I want to be out on the streets saving lives! NBC you got it all wrong here! This show is better than half the shows out there! The writing and acting couldn’t of possably gotten better, and the writing and acting didn’t lead… Read more »
I completely agree with that comment……trauma was a great show that I looked forward to every week…..you didn’t get my opinion before canceling. June
I thought this was the best medical show on TV. I really enjoyed watching it with my teenaged daughters. I hope that NBC will reconsider and put it back on.
This show rocked. They should have kept it on long enough to tie up the loose ends at least. What happens with Rabbit and Nancy? What happens with Tyler’s Dad? What happens with Marisa and her Army buddy? They really left us hanging. I agree Alex, I hope TNT or someone is bright enough to see that this show has a strong following and reprises it.
