To no surprise whatsoever, NBC has cancelled their Monday night medical TV show, Trauma — for real this time.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The NBC series got off to a poor start last fall with just a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.68 million viewers. The ratings fell from there and the show was essentially cancelled when the network decided not to order additional episodes beyond the initial baker’s dozen.
Then, in large part because the show was still in production and NBC needed additional original programming, the network ordered an additional seven episodes. Viewership continued to fall and NBC cut back their additional order to five installments. The last one aired on April 26th.
Though NBC has a lot of slots to fill on the 2010-11 schedule, Trauma’s ratings were just too low to pay for a second season. It’s been cancelled after 18 episodes.
Though devoted fans may mourn the series’ demise, a consolation might be that they got five more episodes than the ratings realistically warranted.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Trauma won’t be back next season? Any thoughts on how you would have wrapped up the series?

This is the best show by far they need to put it back on air. They don’t realize how much people really enjoyed the show. Bummer that there is no season two.
i WANT YOU GUYS TO PUT TRAUMA AND MERCY BACK ON AIR. THEY ARE TAKING ALL THE GOOD SHOWS AND REPLACING THEM WITH REALITY TV AND PEOPLE FROM THE 70 AND 80 DONT REALLY ENJOY REALITY TV….,.BORING. I ENJOY ACTION AND TRAUMA NAD MERCY WAS IT SO COULD YOU PLEASE DO ME A FAVOR SO I WILL HAVE SOMETHING TO WATCH ON TV IN PUT BOTH SHOWS BACK.
I loved this show!! It’s amazing how they always cancel the good shows yet keep the stupid crap!! All the peeps at the hospital watched this! I think your rating scale was off. Please bring it back
This was a great show. Imagine a show that’s excitig, suspenseful, and portrays real life…. hello that’s what this show was. And then you cancel it. Just like another show that was good,”K-Ville.
I liked the show, as an EMT, some of the scenes were realistic in the actors response to calls. Granted the first couple of shows made EMS look bad, but the producers did try and make the show realistic but still draw an audience.
Our family enjoyed watching Trama. We hate that there will be no season two.
Great TV series and would love to see Season Two of Trauma. What a loss.
this is a great show i dont know why more people didnt watch hopefully they will bring it back one day
Trauma Was One Of The Best Shows On TV!!! THAT AND HEROES!!! THANKS NBC!!
PLEASE BRING THEM BACK!!!
It figures. Everytime I get into a REALLY great show BAM!! It gets cancelled. What’s up with this????? No one asked ME to tally the percentages. Makes me mad. PLEASE bring it back.
Best show need a season two never seen it until I seen it on netflix really cool show
Trauma was such a great season!!!!!! I cant believe they cancelled it!
I have no idea how they figured it had poor ratings, everyone we have talked to about it loved the show. thought it was better than the show “ER” which we loved. They need to change their way of figuring ratings! It had great action, and great interaction of the characters, a really good show. Thank goodness Netflix has the show so we can watch it again!!! We wish they would try it again on TV!!
I got hooked by episode 4. LOL
NBC really needs to bring it back, I think the percentages were way off.
The show is a very good show and the ratings were low, I am and EMT and the show is very accurate with the care they provide. I was very surprised, that is exactly how it happens in the field. I guess for me it was nice seeing a show on your career, I think if they bring it back and advertise more they will get higher ratings and the show will not be canceled.
Loved it! Bring it back NBC!!!!
If they knew there was a good chance that the show would not continue then the producers/writers should have made the final episodes wrap up the stories better.
Regarding the gay content – most Americans do not think it is immoral. There is a gradual cultural shift under way in Americans’ views toward gay individuals and gay rights.
This year, the shift is apparent in a record-high level of the public seeing gay and lesbian relations as morally acceptable. Meanwhile, support for legalizing gay marriage, and for the legality of gay and lesbian relations more generally, is near record highs.
