To no surprise whatsoever, NBC has cancelled their Monday night medical TV show, Trauma — for real this time.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The NBC series got off to a poor start last fall with just a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.68 million viewers. The ratings fell from there and the show was essentially cancelled when the network decided not to order additional episodes beyond the initial baker’s dozen.
Then, in large part because the show was still in production and NBC needed additional original programming, the network ordered an additional seven episodes. Viewership continued to fall and NBC cut back their additional order to five installments. The last one aired on April 26th.
Though NBC has a lot of slots to fill on the 2010-11 schedule, Trauma’s ratings were just too low to pay for a second season. It’s been cancelled after 18 episodes.
Though devoted fans may mourn the series’ demise, a consolation might be that they got five more episodes than the ratings realistically warranted.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Trauma won’t be back next season? Any thoughts on how you would have wrapped up the series?

I was really sorry to see Trauma cancelled, here in the uk it seemed popular and I really enjoyed it, such a shame, something slightly different to the usual run of the millmedical dramas that become staid and boring but yet command high viewing figures this was exciting and funny and had a good dose of sentimental stuff to keep you on the edge of your seat for the next episode. I hope that perhaps it may be resurected in the future.
This was one of the shows I looked most forward to each week. I am very disappointed it was cancelled!!
Trauma was a great show and I would have loved to see a second season. I watched it on Hulu and had no idea that it was cancelled already.
I am so upset there is no more to watch. I am an EMT-IV and although some of the things they do are unrealistic there is a lot of good scenes and probable outcomes from injuries and treatments done. Very Sad I can’t watch anymore
I also started watching this on Netflix. Maybe it is more interesting if you can watch it episode after episode instead of having to wait a week. Who knows!
Also learned about the show on Netflix. I’ve been watching 2-3 episodes everyday.. what a great show! i’m hooked.
I loved the first season of Trauma, I also learned about it on Netflix and someone also sugested taking the ratings off Netflix. Thats a good idea, for those who have never heard of the show. It should have been advertised more! I would love to see another season!!! Please consider another season!!
I loved this series along with mercy and mental and not one of them came back. Maybe the time slot was the issue for low ratings or just too many other shows to compete with on that day. I have seen many great shows fall off air mid season or after only one season while other shows that I think are completely stupid stay on for years.
make another season please. I need to see whats going to happin and i learn new stuff ever time i watch it!
well that just sucks i seen this show on netflix and watched it all and now im hella depressed that you guys cancelled it…. o well i guess i will watch reruns until you make another season
With E.R. Gone this was an AWSOME show!!!!!!!! I really looked forward to watching this every Monday night it’s better than the reality shows that are now… please reconsider bringing BACK the actors and actress’s were very good ….You people really have taken some really great shows off the air and it really sucks!!!!!!!! TRAUMA. FLASHWARD. MERCY. Please put these good shows back on thanks Tecia
I totally agree! I adored Mercy! Flashforward was so interesting and Trauma was so high energy and fun! i’m still upset that all three of those shows were cancelled abd all three left the viewers hanging!
There was never anything said about it. It’s a great show. I love it. If they can take their ratings from Netflix then they would be suprised. I watch it everyday.
I am very sorry to see this show be cancelled. Maybe there should have been more advertising. I never heard of it before Netflix. Also come one NBC, classless television. Maybe shoot for a spot on showtime or HBO. So sad.
My husband just watched all of season 1 in 2 days on netflix. What a shame we would have watched this show every week.
I agree. We just got them all on Netflix and finished the last one lastnight. I am SO upset they didn’t continue the show. We loved it.
Trauma was an awesome show! I sure hope NBC will reconsider production on a second season. This show is a great inspiration to EMS, and there are no other shows that actually show the true side of Emergancy calls. EMS is where it all begins, and without them many patients would not make it to recovery. Please bring back “Trauma”!!!!
I am so shocked to find out that trauma is cancelled. I loved the show
