To no surprise whatsoever, NBC has cancelled their Monday night medical TV show, Trauma — for real this time.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The NBC series got off to a poor start last fall with just a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.68 million viewers. The ratings fell from there and the show was essentially cancelled when the network decided not to order additional episodes beyond the initial baker’s dozen.
Then, in large part because the show was still in production and NBC needed additional original programming, the network ordered an additional seven episodes. Viewership continued to fall and NBC cut back their additional order to five installments. The last one aired on April 26th.
Though NBC has a lot of slots to fill on the 2010-11 schedule, Trauma’s ratings were just too low to pay for a second season. It’s been cancelled after 18 episodes.
Though devoted fans may mourn the series’ demise, a consolation might be that they got five more episodes than the ratings realistically warranted.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Trauma won’t be back next season? Any thoughts on how you would have wrapped up the series?

Love it and miss the show. Miss seeing the paramedics, truly a profession that deserves airtime.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE-X-10000000 BRING BACK TRAUMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE bring back Trauma…This was one show that my husband and I would make time to sit and watch together!!!!! One of the best shows I have seen in a while….Seems like everytime I finally find a show I like…IT GETS CANCELED…lol..How does something like this get canceled but things like GLEE can somehow stick around…lol I dont get it!!!..lol
OMG i think GLEE is the dumbest show ever! i dont get how ANYONE watches that crap!
TRAUMA is a brilliant show! fast paced, action packed, interesting characters (the girls on that show are kick ass!) i watched this show wide eyed. this should have been a winner!
Trauma needs to be on a different time slot and begin in the fall. The characters are so real.It is more realistic than any medical show that I have seen in the past few years. As someone who works in the medical field, I find it a refreshing change from Grays Anatomy.
Very disappointed you canceled Trauma. Was a very good show. Hope you can still reconsider.
I think if it was running in the fall line-up, it would have received better ratings. Nobody, I mean NOBODY watches very much television in the summertime.
Stupid for cancelling that show…
Darn you! Trauma is one of my favorite shows. I watched the entire first season within a two day period on Netflix; it was soooo good!
I hope there another TV series like this. I miss you Trauma!
BUMMER, This was one of the best shows on Mondays.
I really miss Trauma. I was a true fan and wish they would bring the show back. Monday night tv is just not the same without Trauma!!
I am pissed! I always find a season I really like and they cancel it. Whatever I guess, don’t cry over spilled milk.
This was a great show, great cast, maybe it just needed a different time slot. I loved it!
– never got into ER, Mercy, Greys Anatomy, or any of the other medical shows but finally, along came one that I liked – and they cancel it! Idiots! It was a modern day version of EMERGENCY from the 70s, one of my favorites as a kid. I also live in the SF bay area and it was nice to see it depicted on TV even if filming did cause traffic problems. 🙂
picked up the show on late night tv in australia….loved it!
just one more case of mismanagement(deliberate or otherwise) leading to the demise of quality television….

My wife and I love this show are and sad and mad that there will not be a 2nd season. I think that they should go by the ratings and what people have said on Hulu and Netflix. If NBC would look that they would for sure bring back Trauma.
