To no surprise whatsoever, NBC has cancelled their Monday night medical TV show, Trauma — for real this time.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The NBC series got off to a poor start last fall with just a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.68 million viewers. The ratings fell from there and the show was essentially cancelled when the network decided not to order additional episodes beyond the initial baker’s dozen.
Then, in large part because the show was still in production and NBC needed additional original programming, the network ordered an additional seven episodes. Viewership continued to fall and NBC cut back their additional order to five installments. The last one aired on April 26th.
Though NBC has a lot of slots to fill on the 2010-11 schedule, Trauma’s ratings were just too low to pay for a second season. It’s been cancelled after 18 episodes.
Though devoted fans may mourn the series’ demise, a consolation might be that they got five more episodes than the ratings realistically warranted.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Trauma won’t be back next season? Any thoughts on how you would have wrapped up the series?

BIG mistake!! This was a great show…never missed an episode. Sure hope you are able to find a replacement worth watching, NBC is really started to suck!
Thats right RC your job must suck, cause trauma made it to where my 21yr old wanted
to be a EMT , thanks so i dont waste money,
We should cancel all medical shows ,then, right??
After all my wife is a nurse and none of it is accurate!!!!!!
Boo.. we loved to watch Trauma on Monday nights. I think NBC is making a poor decision! Sad we will not get to see all the characters return and they left us all hanging on the last episode!
I love the show and am going to miss it 🙁
Cmon NBC why do you have to cancel such a great show like TRAUMA?? Ive loved watching this show since episode 1..bring it back don’t let down all your loving fans
Shame on you NBC….you bring out great show and then you cancel them. After all the complaints last time this happened, you brought it back. NOW your cancelling it again. Dont you realize what a GREAT show this is?!?!?! you have sooo many stupid shows that you keep on, I bet Trauma had higher ratings than them. Get a grip NBC and give us back Trauma!!!!!!
Trauma was becoming one of my favourite Monday night shows! I can’t believe NBC has cancelled it! Shameful!
This show doesn’t even come close to depicting my profession. The show was a slap in the face to ALL EMS providers.. Thanks to intervention of NAEMT, and thousands of EMT’s and Paramedics nationwide who spoke out about the misrepresentation of our profession. If there were a television show about your profession, wouldn’t you expect it to be accurate? I’m glad that this show was canceled. Perhaps if they (NBC) did a lot more research before filming, this show wouldn’t have failed so miserably.
RC, Im speaking for all who read your post here….Nobody cares about accurately representing your profession or NAEMT? I dont in the least, yet I enjoy watching Trauma. Im an aircraft pilot with over 20yrs experience flying everything you see in the sky. Would I rather watch something that depicts my daily grind, or Top Gun where Maverick takes down F14’s during the day and ladies at night? No slap in the face? Just fun to watch. Get it yet? Its not about what your day to day grind, its about entertainment, which this show was actually good at. And… Read more »
I wonder how RC knows if the show was accurate or not…IF he didn’t watch it????
I TOO am in “This profession” and have been for 17 years, and I loved this show! And this show is more accurate than a lot of medics will own up to. I’m in a small town, and no, we don’t get this kind of drama everyday, but we do get it. And every service has a “super medic” that pushes the envelope as far as his (or her) level of training. So don’t say ALL EMS providers, as there are quite a few of us that enjoyed the show and looked forward to it every week. The show was… Read more »
Another great loss to the viewing public. This Show was a really great show. The exe’s at NBC should all get the boot all they seem to be interested in is shoving endless piles of crap down our throats. Any time any program comes along that has the promise of being a great show they kill it and you can’t believe the rating BS as they are often manipulated to there advantage. All you have to do is talk to people who have watched the show to know how good it really was,I have asked 50 people that have watched… Read more »
It is a shame it was canceled. It seems like all the good shows are canceled because of this reality crap. I enjoyed it and I hope another network picks it up.
Way to go NBC. Trauma was one of the best shows out there and you cancelled it. Please let another network give it a chance.
I really hate to see this show get cancelled. I look forward to it each week….

Way to go NBC. This was a great show. After ER finished I looked forward every Monday to watch it. Didi not even give a chance to go all the way thru. I know it air the same time as 24, but the season is ending and now there is nothing to watch at 9PM.
Both my husband and I liked that show and we will miss it. With some of the other
crap out there I rated it at a 10
TRAUMA IS ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS OUT THERE RIGHT NOW. I REALLY LOVE IT. THEY SHUT IT DOWN, BECAUSE OF LOW RATINGS OR SOME THING. THAT’S A BUNCH OF BULL. IF THEY PUT IT ON AT ANOTHER TIME MAYBE EARLIER OR WHATEVER. I’M SURE PEOPLE WOULD WATCH IT. DONT FORGET THAT THERE IS MILLIONS OF PEOPLE WHO WORK NIGHTS, ORHAVE KIDS AND DONT GOT ENOUGH TIME TO WATCH TV WHEN THEY COME HOME. LIKE ME THEY PROBABLY GET CAUGHT UP WATCHING IN THE MORNING ON NBC WHEN THE KIDS GO TO SCHOOL. THE ENDING DIDN’T EVEN END LIKE A… Read more »
