To no surprise whatsoever, NBC has cancelled their Monday night medical TV show, Trauma — for real this time.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The NBC series got off to a poor start last fall with just a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.68 million viewers. The ratings fell from there and the show was essentially cancelled when the network decided not to order additional episodes beyond the initial baker’s dozen.
Then, in large part because the show was still in production and NBC needed additional original programming, the network ordered an additional seven episodes. Viewership continued to fall and NBC cut back their additional order to five installments. The last one aired on April 26th.
Though NBC has a lot of slots to fill on the 2010-11 schedule, Trauma’s ratings were just too low to pay for a second season. It’s been cancelled after 18 episodes.
Though devoted fans may mourn the series’ demise, a consolation might be that they got five more episodes than the ratings realistically warranted.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Trauma won’t be back next season? Any thoughts on how you would have wrapped up the series?

Love this show…. why are all the good new shows being canceled???????
Why in the world would you take this show off the air? This was the best show that has been on the air in a long time. I looked forward to it every week. I agree with some of the other viewers, if you tried another time slot I bet the ratings would shoot up! Why would you end it the way you did? You need to get new writers. You can’t even wrap the show up. You could at least give the viewers that.
CBS has seven openings to fill. Maybe they will be a little smarter than NBC and pick this one up and put it in a better time slot. Just like Cheryl I find myself watching cable networks instead, and I will continue to do so till heads become released from rearends. Trauma, we hope to see you again.
My husband and I loved Trauma! We will miss seeing it.
I LOVE this show! I cannot believe that they took it off the air! Great characters, interesting stories…a perfect show. I will truly miss it. 🙁
Finally, a good show that I would hate to miss! Then you take it off. Maybe you should try it at a different time. My three favorite shows are Trauma, Mercy and Parenthood. You have now cancelled two of those shows. Nothing else worth watching on your network.
I am so horribly p—— off that they canceled Trauma! What a great show and to have it end the way it did, with no closure to any of the characters’ story lines. Shame on you NBC!!!!!!!!!! What are you going to fill the time slot with – another horrible reality show or something stupid that no one relates to? This was a great show that a lot of people liked and to cancel it just goes to show that they only thing the creators of TV care about are the numbers, not the people who watch. NBC, you have… Read more »
Figures… they finally get a really good Show on like Trauma, and put it on a busy night like Cheryl said with CSI, and Dancing with the Stars, and Chuck??? Of course it’s hard to see all shows at once, but Trauma was an amazing show. Always something different and it was actually going some where. It had great character plots, and always had action. You couldn’t wait to skip the commercials too see what happens next. And with Rabbit seeing his girl drunk and kissing her partner at the end… wow…
so disappointing that show had to end! we never missed any single of trauma show. im too picky what to watch other than trauma show!
How could you expect Trauma to get an audience on Monday night when its up against dancing with the stars and csi miami?? NBC you suck. You take good shows off the air and leave us with crap. No wonder I don’t watch your network anymore. You don’t wrap shows when you cancel them. We still are waiting to find out what happened to Danny and Delinda’s baby on Vegas. Trauma was good. Just had poor time slots. Maybe they can go to TBS or TNT. Southland is awesome. More and more Im going to the cable affiliates and leaving… Read more »

This show needs to be brought back on the air, it is a very good show, with all the actors.
Who make these bad mistakes.
What do the viewers have to do to help bring back this show?
