To no surprise whatsoever, NBC has cancelled their Monday night medical TV show, Trauma — for real this time.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The NBC series got off to a poor start last fall with just a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.68 million viewers. The ratings fell from there and the show was essentially cancelled when the network decided not to order additional episodes beyond the initial baker’s dozen.
Then, in large part because the show was still in production and NBC needed additional original programming, the network ordered an additional seven episodes. Viewership continued to fall and NBC cut back their additional order to five installments. The last one aired on April 26th.
Though NBC has a lot of slots to fill on the 2010-11 schedule, Trauma’s ratings were just too low to pay for a second season. It’s been cancelled after 18 episodes.
Though devoted fans may mourn the series’ demise, a consolation might be that they got five more episodes than the ratings realistically warranted.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Trauma won’t be back next season? Any thoughts on how you would have wrapped up the series?

bring it back please
I agree with Debbi USA are you listening? Trauma was the only NBC show I watched. The programming choices leave a lot to be desired and their decisions are really bad. I will miss Rabbit> hopefully he will show up on cable where they keep their shows and let youenjoy them.
This show is absolutely FANTASTIC! Please reconsider a different time slot! Move one of the reality shows like the marriage ref or a number of others. My husband and I look forward to this show each week and watch it on demand if we miss an episode…Bring Trauma back!!!
My family really liked the show and we are disappointed it was cancelled.
What a disappointment…Trauma had the makings of a really good show. I can’t believe 4/26 was the last episode 🙁 Would love to see it come back!
I wish another network would pick this fine show up. NBC never advertized it like they should have. They were so busy messing with Jay and Conan that they forgot about everything else.
Trauma was only good NBC show, but they don’t like success. Crap like the L & O that couldn’t produce an original story, lousy directors and acting; same with Friday Night Lights horrible. No Bruckheimer, no story. Thurs comedy night is middle school fare, that gnome kid troll on “Middle” worse ever.Parenthood poor revival. “Minute to Win It” poor imitation of “Beat the Clock” and we haVE TO SUFFER THRU IT TWICE! aLMOST AS BAD AS “DEAL” WITH THAT WASHED UP COMEDIAN, Guy Fieri in the garbage can with this recipe. As much as I hate to admit it, I… Read more »
I can not believe NBC canseled this. It seems like if shows do not revolve around sex and which doctor is with who it never has a chance now days.
I agree, I loved this show and the stories were beginning to show more of the personalities of the people and becoming more interesting storylines.
This was one of the best shows on air. First I think we need to understand how the ratings system works. Do the ratings only take into consideration those viewers who are watching the show at the moment it’s being aired or does it also take into consideration all those viewers who tape the show because they can’t bear to miss it while they might be busy putting children to bed or working late?
I have truly enjoy this show from the start. I really can’t believe that it did’nt do well. The show is good from start to finish. Maybe it would do better on another night or another channel
I agree. Monday night has alot of other shows.. They should try another night. Like Wednesday.
I am disappointed with NBC’s decision to cancel Trauma! I loved this show a lot and maybe if they put it on at a different time like a Wednesday night it would gain more viewers!
I agree put it in a time slot where it does not compete with something else. Put in the place of a reality show. Trauma is a great show, please give it another chance.
Maybe a cable network will pick up Trauma and Mercy and Miami Medical….
As someone who has spent almost 30 years in EMS from small rural volunteer squads to major city ambulance and currently working in air ambulance I am not at all sorry to see this show go. The very first show – near the anniversary of when 6 of my colleagues (and two friends) were killed in an air to air collision was a travesty. The consistent portrayal of us as unprofessional, hormone driven, risk takers was unacceptable. Three major professional orgainzations and two major professional journals panned this show. A significant portion of our community found this show insulting. I’m… Read more »
Extremely disappointed! Bring TRAUMA back!!!
