To no surprise whatsoever, NBC has cancelled their Monday night medical TV show, Trauma — for real this time.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The NBC series got off to a poor start last fall with just a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.68 million viewers. The ratings fell from there and the show was essentially cancelled when the network decided not to order additional episodes beyond the initial baker’s dozen.
Then, in large part because the show was still in production and NBC needed additional original programming, the network ordered an additional seven episodes. Viewership continued to fall and NBC cut back their additional order to five installments. The last one aired on April 26th.
Though NBC has a lot of slots to fill on the 2010-11 schedule, Trauma’s ratings were just too low to pay for a second season. It’s been cancelled after 18 episodes.
Though devoted fans may mourn the series’ demise, a consolation might be that they got five more episodes than the ratings realistically warranted.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Trauma won’t be back next season? Any thoughts on how you would have wrapped up the series?

I THINK IT IS REALLY DISHEARTING CANCELLING THE SHOW TRAUMA.
I LOOKED FORWARD TO WATCHING IT EVERY WEEK, NOW I WATCH IT
ON MY IPOD.
MY DAUGHTER HAD DECIDED TO BECOME AN EMT AND SHE ESPECIALLY LIKED IT.
I LIKED GETTING TO SEE WHAT SHE WILL BE DOING.
YOU KNOW EVERYTHING GOOD ALWAYS GOES
My husband and I really enjoyed watching this show. I’m really disappointed that you cancelled th is show. I liked this better than Mercy. I don’t think you gave this show a chance. I have to agree with alot of the other viewers comments. I guess if this show is not coming back than I will have to watch another network. Where do you get your ratings from? Please reconsider and bring the show back.
THIS SUCKS! I looked forward to this show every week. NBC is making some REALLY bad decisions! Used to be the top network – now I watch Lifetime re-runs b4 I watch NBC.
Wow how can you say a show had bad ratings when it was on again off again? On top of that there wasn’t any advertising for this show. I myself started watching it from the first episode and my kids actually came into the room and watched it with me!! I thought “yes finally something that is up there in rankings with ER” I watched this show regularly and when I couldn’t I taped it!! Co-workers had heard me talking about and tuned in only to see the last few episodes get hooked then find out it’s canceled. How about… Read more »
To the programming executives at NBC, Once again you have blundered. I seem to remember that “Hill Street Blues” and “ER” had very little fan support at the beginning, but they got renewed anyway and we know what happened after that, don’t we?, many years of success. My feelings are that if you were to consider the ordinary viewer’s feelings and opinions, instead of the “Nielsen Viewers” viewing habits, then we would have “Trauma” on in season 2. In my opinion, “Trauma”, was a well written show and a rather realistic show, much in the vein of “ER”.I hope it’s not… Read more »
WHY??? Great show. I think the big wigs are making a mistake. Trauma is better then Mercy. Rabbit (Cliff) is so funny. What a shame.
My mom, sister and I are very disappointed!! this was our favorite show!!! Please reconsider! Mercy and Trauma are great shows (were) because they’re both canceled now :'(… i was really hoping for another season
Trauma was a great show, over here in Australia . NBC should stop canceling shows, hopefully Mercy will keep going, if it hasn’t already been canned. Both shows have complex characters and relationships and are quite cute
I really enjoyed this show and looked forward to seeing it each week. It is much better than Mercy. Please bring it back…
Trauma was one of the best shows ever.. I give high rankings with ER. They should bring it back and Im sure ratings will go up. Im sure a lot of people never heard of it because it really didnt have any commercials on tv advertising the show. Me myself I just happened to stumble upon it flipping through channels and it became one of my must sees. Then one day I went to tune in and it was gone. Boy was that a sad day for me. Loved the few episodes that did air. I vote to bring it… Read more »
Trauma was one of the best shows on TV. I am very sorry to hear it has been cancelled. Please reconsider.
Really sad.. loved this show.. really sucks that they didn’t even give the fans that DID watch a season finale…
Way way way way to bad this was cancelled. One more reason to stop watching tv, there’s not much on and when a good show finally comes out the hirer ups take it off.
Way to go
Absolutely the saddest news I’ve had all spring! I loved Trauma.
Does NBC get rid of every good show they have?? No wonder you guys have time slots open…..
