Last May, NBC announced that it would be adding two new medical shows. Trauma would begin airing in the Fall and Mercy would come in early 2010. That plan got messed up when production on Parenthood, another new show, was delayed, and Mercy was brought in early to take its place.
With two new medical dramas on the network, many suspected there was going to be one too many. A few months later, one is struggling to survive and the other has been effectively cancelled.
Trauma revolves around a group of first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The drama has had problems attracting viewers from the beginning. Its premiere only attracted 6.68 million viewers and a 2.2/5 rating/share of the 18-49 demographic. The following week, the numbers sank to 5.36 million and a 1.7/4. The numbers have been rising slowly since then but not by much. Monday’s episode hit a post-premiere high of 5.77 million and a 1.9/5, putting the show in fourth place for the timeslot.
To no surprise, NBC has decided not to order additional episodes of Trauma. While all 13 episodes of the series will be aired, the network won’t be ordering any more. It’s unknown if the cast and crew will be able to give the show any closure by the last episode.
What do you think? Are you disappointed that Trauma is ending or should it have been cancelled awhile ago?
UPDATE: Trauma returning with new episodes.

I loved this show and so wish they would bring it back or another network pick it up.
Please bring the show back i really love the show
I really loved this show. I couldnt get hooked or even entranced with mercy….I am really disappointed
I’ve had it with NBC. They seem to have it in for good shows. Shows that should have never made it to screen do and the best shows get canceled. I’m not going to waste my time with them anymore.
What is the problem with NBC? They have no clue what we like to watch & always cancel the good shows and keep the stupid ones. I have got to the point of not watching NBC at all till they get it right!!
Honestly, NBC is so screwed up. They’ve canceled so many shows, there are too many to count. It seems as soon as they start a season they cancel it. Do they not realize people dont just watch tv, but also Hulu… if they realized that, then im sure they wouldnt be cancel so many shows. Im so sick of them. If a new show comes out, I definitely would think twice bout wasting my time to watch it. Reallly dissapointed. I like Trauma a lot. Defintely better then the other two crappy shows like Mercy and Parenthood.
I am so upset. I loved all the characters. I love this show!!!!
BTW, loved Rabbit in the movie “The Last Airbender” as the bad dad!!!! :]
I watched every single episode of “Trauma”, and sincerely hope that they will decide to make another season. If so – we will be watching!
its the best medical show on tv at the moment please bring it back
The show is awesome pleaseee put it back on the air
LOVE the show… They need to bring it BACK !!!!!!!
I’m heart broken to read this tonight. I was sitting here thinking about all my favorite shows and had not hear anything about it previews. I watched the first episode and was hooked. PLEASE bring it back. The actors worked great and the story lines were so real and amazing. We need this show! Let me know if there is anything more I can do to see it on again. I LOVED Trauma. Parenthood stinks take it off and put Trauma back on. Love Mercy too by the way but between the two Trauma is the best!
I agree with everyone of these I read. Maybe if we all send our opinions to NBC they may rethink it, also on the last episode when Rabbit was looking in the door at his girl kissing her partner, they should at least have done another episode to see what happened to the two of them.
I’m gonna miss Trama that was my favorite Monday nite show. Wish it would come back.
I agree with all of the comments posted here about Trauma. The show shouldn’t have ended; it had action, romance, suspence, and comedy. There are many shows about Doctors, Hospitals, Fire Departments, Cops, and Governments, but not much people really know about the EMTs and the Paramedics. There jobs are stressful especially in San Francisco and Richmond and other populated areas like Oakland. This show is the only show about the EMTs and Paramedics and so I thought it was great that they made a show like this because to tell you the truth I started to get bored of… Read more »
I am very mad Trauma was what got back to watching NBC but then they had to cancel it.
I watched Mercy and it is not that great of a show and it should have got canceled instead.
I am really wish that this show would come back on NBC or maybe CBS or Fox.
It is a great show and well it gives a different way to look at medical shows.
I do belive that it would have made a big hit if it was given a chance but what do I know I just watch tv.
