TV show description:
This dramatic series follows the story of an unassuming American family that’s drawn into the inner workings of a turbulent Middle Eastern nation.
Bassam “Barry” Al-Fayeed (Adam Rayner) is the youngest son of a war-torn country’s controversial dictator. He returns to his homeland for his nephew’s wedding after a self-imposed 20-year exile in America. Upon his return, Barry is immediately thrown back into the familial and national politics of his youth.
He braces himself to confront the stark realities of his father and older brother Jamal’s (Ashraf Barhom) harsh rule, and finds himself at odds with Jamal’s wife, Leila (Moran Atias). She believes strongly in a firm, unforgiving regime.
Although Barry’s wife Molly (Jennifer Finnigan) struggles to comprehend her husband’s apprehension, Barry is unable and unwilling to make his all-American family understand his unease over returning home.
Emma (Anne Winters), their 17-year-old daughter, adores her father and shares his disdain for the extravagances of her extended family. Meanwhile, their son, 16-year-old Sammy (Noah Silver), revels in the lavish lifestyle that their “royal” status brings. He also dangerously tests cultural divides with his poorly disguised interest in the family’s handsome bodyguard, Abdul (Mehdi Dehbi).
Barry’s only warm memory of his childhood — his boyhood friend Fauzi (Fares Fares) — wants nothing to do with him. Fauzi is now a journalist, whose reports on the abuses of the Al-Fayeed rule resulted in his arrest and torture.
Now, Barry must now confront the life he once fled. With his father’s health in decline, everyone — Jamal, their mother Amira (Alice Krige), their father’s top advisor Yussef (Salim Daw), and even easygoing US diplomat John Tucker (Justin Kirk) — expects him to assume a more active role in both the family and the regime.
Episode #32 — Two Graves
Barry and Molly are on the brink of waging war on the Caliphate. Leila makes a bold political move and braves the possibility of a close betrayal. Barry and Daliyah face a final reckoning in their relationship. The conflict in Abuddin threatens to turn into a bloody civil war.
First aired: September 7, 2016.
What do you think? Do you like the Tyrant TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourthseason?
Another casualty of the “dumbing down of America”, in favor of such gems as “Duck Dynasty”, “Survivor”, and their ilk. Unforgivable, too – especially when “Tyrant” is more relevant now than when it started. I doubt I’m the only person out there who sees the parallels…
I loved this show please come back!
Tyrant was one of the best shows, with so many possible story lines. So disappointed that it was cancelled. Bring it back
Tyrant a very good scripted & very good acting, why cancel? It is because it is telling somewhat the truth behind the political issues in the middle east. Renew this amazingly action packed tv show & I applaud the actors. Worth keeping on!
My husband is in 100% agreement : Please Renew Tyrant You can get Your plot lines from the BBC, TeleFrance 24 or RT TV. Abbudin is SYRIA. Bashir Assads
SYRIA has a Tyrant like Howard Sprague in the Andy Griffith Show and Russia
is not America – Russia and Iran and Hezbollah are genocidal murders.
TYRANT — is Syria and Syria is the powderkeg of the Third and last World War.
TYRANT is Series where Art imitates Real Life. The Series models the Assad Regime of SYRIA from the late 1970’s to Present Day . Instead of the principal protagonist being an American Doctor and his WASP wife. The Assad regime has Bashir Assad- a real Tyrant and ill-fated bumbling puppet of Russia. Like the Principle characters in the Series. The Assad family had very similar events, relationships and supported by a Military who loyalty was based on family and Tribal affiliation. The Assad Regime has destroyed the cultural matrix of SYRIA. Please Renew and return TYRANT —- The Producers cancelled… Read more »
LOVED this show. great actors. couldnt wait to watch new season. just stay non political.
My wife and I enjoyed Tryant very much. There is so much trash on tv today it was nice to see a series like Tyrant. Guess we will be watching Netflix more.
I love this show and it should not have been cancelled. Very disappointing
I think the series should have been renewed for a 4th season. I loved the show and will miss it.
This show was fantastic when it first started. Unfortunately, being politically correct, it turned into a show regarding the son’s sexual preference instead of political strife within a country. A shame many good shows are ruined by going down the PC route.
Fully agree, it was a great show that taken in a direction that forced its own ending by the writers moving in a direction in season three that was not as good as season one and two. The writers killed off some of the better characters at the moment of great drama, but the follow through of missing these characters left the show missing a flow where I was left just wishing Barry and his family would just please get on a plane and go home to California… Well I guess with no real closure we can now be assured… Read more »
Please do not cancel Tyrant. There are many directions the story line could go from the last episode. I have always looked forward to each episode. I don’t see myself getting interested in any more new series in the future because they are usually cancelled before running their course.
Please do not cancel Tyrant! We have Tyrant parties and looked forward to the next season! Please reconsider!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was one of my favorite shows. It seems that the possible plots are endless. Please bring it back.
How do you cancel a show and not an ending? I hate when this happens! This was a great show!
